Energy Code Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.

📋 Description

• Contribute to the creation of innovative course concepts and training subjects that align with the evolving energy codes and industry demands.

• Convert course outlines into compelling PowerPoint presentations, developing or sourcing visual materials that enhance and illustrate key ideas.

• Conduct live webinar and in-person training sessions for a diverse range of stakeholders.

• Offer technical assistance and guidance to clients to help them comprehend applicable energy codes and policies within their jurisdictions.

• Enhance PSD's expertise in energy codes through training, technical support, and engagement with stakeholders.

• Report to the Senior Manager of Energy Codes/Provider Services.

• Collaborate with teams in training, development, and marketing.

• Compile and deliver clear, timely reports and updates for clients.

⛳️ Requirements

• In-depth knowledge of residential and commercial energy codes, along with related compliance and enforcement practices.

• Experience in creating technical resources to aid energy code compliance, such as training presentations, checklists, flowcharts, field guides, and FAQs.

• Familiarity with the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) and its application across various project types.

• Working knowledge of New York State energy codes, including the Energy Conservation Construction Code of New York State (ECCCNYS) and NYStretch Energy Code.

• Ability to remain updated on model energy codes and monitor state-level adoptions and amendments.

• Experience in delivering live online and in-person training, as well as providing technical assistance and guidance to a wide range of industry audiences.

• A solid foundation in building science principles and a commitment to continuous professional development.

• Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships with code officials, design and construction professionals, and professional organizations.

• Proven capability to collaborate effectively with training, development, and marketing teams.

• Comfortable in preparing clear and timely reports and updates for clients.

• Ability to work independently while coordinating with and reporting to a Senior Manager of Energy Codes/Provider Services.

• Capability to obtain Residential and Commercial IECC certifications.

• Must be a resident of New York State.

• ICC, BPI, and/or relevant state certifications are preferred.
