Employment Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide guidance on workplace policies, performance management, investigations, leave and accommodation queries, wage-and-hour matters, employee relations, and separations across various jurisdictions.

• Collaborate with local counsel as necessary.

• Prepare, review, and negotiate employment-related documents, including offer letters, separation and settlement agreements, employment memos, and agreements for local counsel engagement.

• Address employment-related subpoenas and requests for personnel files.

• Develop and implement processes for regulatory monitoring, training, policy assessment, audits, investigations, and compliance reporting.

• Assist with subsidiary maintenance, director and officer issues, board and committee documentation, corporate records, and other governance tasks.

• Provide support for commercial, privacy, product, intellectual property, litigation, and other legal matters as priorities change.

• Utilize AI tools for legal research, drafting, issue identification, analysis, and knowledge management, ensuring validation of outputs and confidentiality protection.

• Recognize issues that necessitate input from specialist colleagues, a second legal review, or external counsel.

• Collaborate with People, Finance, Sales, Product, Security, and other stakeholders as a trusted advisor.

• Develop scalable playbooks, templates, guidance, and processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

• Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.

• 4-5 years of pertinent legal experience in-house, in private practice, or a combination of both.

• Minimum of 2 years of substantial employment law experience.

• Experience in supporting employment compliance, policies, training, investigations, audits, or similar operational processes.

• Ability to work beyond a narrow specialty and acquire practical knowledge of unfamiliar legal topics.

• Practical experience in using AI tools for legal research, drafting, or analysis, including verification, confidentiality, and responsible reliance on AI-generated outputs.

• Experience in supporting a global workforce or managing multi-jurisdictional employment issues, including work with the UK or India.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong judgment regarding risk, ownership, and escalation.

• A builder's mindset, strong follow-through, and adaptability to changing priorities.
