Embedded System Architect – IoT Connectivity

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Design and lead the comprehensive connectivity architecture for IoT devices: hardware, firmware, network protocols, and cloud.

• Evaluate and integrate wireless technologies (Wi-Fi, BLE, Zigbee, Thread, Matter, NFC, cellular), ensuring performance, energy efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

• Define the appliance-to-cloud communication architecture (MQTT, HTTPS, APIs, data models).

• Design secure and fault-tolerant mechanisms for OTA firmware and software updates.

• Develop provisioning processes, key and certificate management, and the complete lifecycle of connected devices.

• Ensure end-to-end privacy and security by applying standards (OWASP IoT, PSA Certified, SESIP, GDPR).

• Create clear architectural documentation: MBSE diagrams, data flows, specifications, and APIs.

• Provide expert support in troubleshooting, performance analysis, and connectivity issue resolution.

• Collaborate with embedded software, cloud, product, factory, and quality teams.

• Provide technical leadership to junior engineers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 3 years of experience in embedded systems and IoT design, particularly in connectivity.

• Proven experience in launching commercial IoT products.

• Proficiency in wireless protocols (Wi-Fi, BLE, Zigbee, Thread, Matter).

• Experience in implementing secure OTA systems.

• In-depth knowledge of IoT platforms such as AWS IoT, Azure IoT Hub, or Google Cloud IoT.

• Strong foundation in C/C++ and RTOS.

• Experience with embedded Linux (a plus).

• Familiarity with mobile apps for provisioning/control (a plus).

• Understanding of RF regulations (FCC, CE RED) (a plus).

• Experience with analytics or ML on IoT data (a plus).

• Certifications in IoT security or cloud platforms (a plus).
