Director, Product Architecture

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Define and enhance SailPoint’s authorization architecture for both human and agentic identities across the platform.

• Establish the technical direction for reusable authorization features throughout product teams.

• Collaborate with Engineering and Product Management to translate architecture into actionable roadmaps.

• Address and resolve design conflicts between different teams.

• Monitor and influence emerging standards and protocols such as OAuth 2.x, token exchange, MCP, Shared Signals/CAEP, Cedar, and OPA.

• Determine the areas where SailPoint will lead and where it will adopt emerging standards.

• Support discussions with analysts, customers, and field personnel, including CISO and CIO audiences.

• Create architecture artifacts, reference designs, and technical narratives.

• Promote the adoption of a cohesive authorization architecture throughout product teams.

• Facilitate quicker and more consistent delivery while minimizing duplicated efforts.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 12 years of experience in software or product architecture.

• Deep expertise in authorization, access control, or identity and access management.

• Strong understanding of authorization models, including RBAC, ABAC, ReBAC, and policy-as-code.

• Familiarity with modern identity protocols and design of distributed systems.

• Proven experience in delivering enterprise security or identity products at scale.

• Demonstrated ability to drive alignment across multiple teams without direct authority.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Capability to articulate complex architecture concepts to executives, customers, and engineers.

• Experience in AI agent security, non-human identity, or API and gateway enforcement is highly advantageous.
