Embedded Software Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Iowa.

📋 Description

• Design and develop an embedded I/O framework that supports various protocols and data interfaces.

• Establish and manage data dictionaries, interface specifications, and technical requirements.

• Create and evaluate embedded software in C/C++ and Python.

• Generate, review, and sustain both high- and low-level requirements with complete traceability.

• Integrate software, hardware, device drivers, and communication systems across diverse platforms.

• Contribute to the development of scalable, reusable, and maintainable software architecture.

⛳️ Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or another STEM-related field.

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in embedded software development or testing.

• Proficient in C/C++ with a strong background in object-oriented embedded design.

• Experience with embedded C in an avionics context.

• Knowledge of Python versions 2.7 and 3.12.

• Understanding of I/O architecture, protocol management, memory handling, and C data structures.

• Experience in generating, reviewing, and tracing both high- and low-level requirements.

• Familiarity with LynxOS, VxWorks, Makefiles, NXP T2080 processors, DOORS, Trace32, socket programming, and Python concurrency.

• Experience in interfacing with hardware or developing device drivers.

• Knowledge of avionics and video protocols, such as ARINC 429, ARINC 818, MIL-STD-1553, AFDX, CAN, SPI, and UART.

• Experience in designing non-volatile storage solutions using EEPROM, flash, or NVRAM.

• Understanding of persistent and transient logging, rollover, retention policies, and log transport mechanisms.

• Familiarity with CI/CD toolchains, configuration management, and software verification processes.

• Experience in integrating systems across various platforms and configuring network communications.

• Knowledge of dynamic resolution 2D or 3D video systems.

• Ability to think strategically and create reusable software frameworks.

• Experience in adopting and/or integrating emerging technologies for continuous operational improvement.
