This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• Oversee and participate in the development of embedded software projects, with an emphasis on communication, networking, and video solutions.
• Create and sustain BSP-level software for embedded Linux, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and bare-metal environments.
• Develop device drivers, manage kernel settings, and employ build systems like Yocto or PetaLinux.
• Design and troubleshoot software for FPGA SoCs, ensuring seamless integration with hardware and other system elements.
• Collaborate on the integration of hardware, software, and FPGA components, interpreting schematics and datasheets to guarantee robust system performance.
• Utilize diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers for thorough debugging and optimization.
• Establish project architecture and guide the technical direction.
• Direct project teams while mentoring and guiding multiple designers to achieve high-quality results.
• Engage with customers to comprehend their requirements and strive to exceed their expectations.
• Apply best design practices to generate maintainable and high-quality code.
• Keep abreast of emerging technologies and methodologies, contributing innovative solutions to the team and projects.
• A degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of experience in BSP-level software development within embedded Linux, RTOS, or bare-metal settings.
• A minimum of 2 years in a technical lead role, demonstrating leadership in project teams, technical architecture, and setting directions.
• Proficiency in embedded software design, particularly in communication, networking, and video applications.
• Extensive experience with embedded Linux, including Yocto or PetaLinux processes, build systems, packaging, kernel configurations, and device drivers.
• Hands-on experience with FPGA SoCs, particularly with Xilinx or similar technologies.
• Strong skills in C, C++, and assembly programming, along with knowledge of tools and best practices for embedded environments.
• Familiarity with device driver development for Linux and real-time operating systems.
• Experience with software upgrade processes and bootloaders such as u-boot.
• Proficient in HW/SW/FPGA integration and debugging using schematics, datasheets, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented design principles and their implementation.
• Knowledge of scripting languages including Python, Bash, and TCL.
• Acknowledges the significance of AI as part of a contemporary engineering toolkit.
• Exceptional communication skills, fluent in English, with the ability to work effectively both within a team and with clients.
• Strong technical leadership, focused on quality design practices.
• Eagerness to learn new technologies and address complex challenges.
