Elementary Special Education Teacher

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Louisiana, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Act as the lead educator for students with special needs.

• Deliver instruction, assistance, and guidance while overseeing the learning journey for self-contained and ALT students as per their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

• Track progress towards IEP objectives and maintain necessary service logs and compliance documentation.

• Work in collaboration with parents, colleagues, general education teachers, and administrators on objectives, curriculum, materials, accommodations, and modifications.

• Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and state-specific documentation for special education.

• Attend annual IEP meetings, collaborative special education meetings, Professional Learning Communities, and data analysis sessions.

• Provide both synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences.

• Evaluate student data to recommend remediation and enrichment, while tracking student growth.

• Gather data and samples of student work to monitor progress on IEPs.

• Record communications with parents, teacher collaborations, and student interventions.

• Deliver special education services and support accommodations to facilitate the achievement of IEP goals.

• Ensure inclusion and success within general education classrooms.

• Maintain grade books, assist with placement and promotion decisions, and notify administrators regarding performance issues.

• Prepare students for high-stakes standardized assessments.

• Foster positive relationships with families and communicate promptly with students and learning coaches/parents.

• Assist learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual classroom troubleshooting.

• Facilitate in-person student assessments.


⛳️ Requirements

• Residency in Texas is required.

• Texas Special Education and ESL certifications are preferred.

• Capability to collaborate effectively with other educators to interpret and create numeric, tabular, and graphical representations of student data.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.

• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time for in-person student assessment, professional development, or other travel as needed by the school.

• Capability to pass required background checks.

• Experience with self-contained and ALT students within the targeted age group.

• Experience assisting both adults and children in utilizing technology.

• Background in teaching online (virtually) and/or in traditional classroom settings.

• Familiarity with online learning platforms.
