This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• The Elementary Reading Interventionist will operate from either our office in Southfield, Michigan, or a home office, and will aid LCA’s Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) by utilizing the Response to Intervention Framework (RTI).

• This role involves coordinating both push-in and pull-out support, aiding in instructional planning, and adapting the instructional program in line with the MTSS model to enhance student learning as per district policies and state guidelines.

• The Elementary Reading Interventionist will create and implement targeted strategies aimed at fostering intellectual, social, and physical development for all students requiring academic intervention.

• Evaluating and assessing the effectiveness of particular MTSS strategies and interventions will be a key responsibility, enabling the refinement of Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 support levels.

• Collaborating with both regular and special education teachers, the Elementary Reading Interventionist will primarily focus on delivering intensive, research-based interventions for Tier 3 students.

• Leverage performance data, surveys, observations, and attendance records to assist teachers in identifying and grouping students needing extra support.

• Aid teachers in creating and executing classroom-based, developmentally appropriate interventions for individuals and groups to foster their social/emotional and cognitive skill acquisition.

• Support educators in documenting student progress effectively.

• Facilitate the Student Support Team (SST) process with principals, support staff, parents, and instructional personnel.

• Develop and effectively use instructional and behavioral support tools such as Tier 2 Planning forms, SST forms, functional behavior assessments, and behavior management plans.

• Collect and organize universal assessment tools at the grade level or subject area and create assessments for monitoring progress for all teachers.

• Design systems that promote the sharing of MTSS best practices collaboratively.

• Implement and monitor all Tier 3 support for identified students, creating systems and tools to evaluate effectiveness and adjust strategies as necessary to enhance outcomes.

• Collaborate with the Directors or Managers of Special Education and SST participants to assist in facilitating eligibility for special education services.

• Schedule, organize, and conduct RTI meetings in a virtual format.

• Plan and execute RTI professional development sessions.

• Maintain and regularly update online resources containing RTI forms and information.

• Conduct data-driven conferences with teachers to effectively guide instruction during Professional Learning Community meetings.

• Assist in preparing and submitting school improvement plans for students facing challenges.

• Help manage IDEA and Section 504 activities related to Child Find obligations.

• Contribute to the production of required Federal, State, and District reports concerning general education interventions and Child Find responsibilities, ensuring compliance with legislative mandates regarding intervention programs and documentation.

• Establish and communicate reasonable classroom rules regarding procedures and behavior while maintaining a safe and orderly classroom environment.

• Utilize a variety of instructional techniques, media, and performance assessments to guide the learning process towards achieving academic goals and curriculum objectives.

• Regularly assess student achievements in various ways and provide necessary progress reports.

• Keep accurate, complete, and compliant records as mandated by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.

• Administer and interpret standardized testing data, adjusting instructional strategies as required to maximize student success potential.

• Foster effective relationships with parents and students through consistent communication and availability.

• Engage in professional growth and development, remaining informed of current research through continued education, seminars, workshops, conferences, membership in relevant professional organizations, and participation in district-sponsored in-service opportunities.

• Meet professional obligations through efficient work practices, including meeting deadlines, adhering to schedules, coordinating resources and meetings effectively, and showing respect for others.

• All job responsibilities may be subject to the establishment of performance goals and/or targets.


⛳️ Requirements

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certification in the relevant subject matter and grade level.

• At least 5 years of successful full-time teaching experience in the appropriate subject matter and grade level.

• Preference for Michigan Residency.

• Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Customer-focused approach.

• High level of adaptability.

• Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

• Proficient in technology, especially Microsoft Office products.

• Required travel and attendance at in-person events, including State Testing, throughout the school year as determined by the school, which may involve overnight travel.

• Availability for occasional evening hours as necessary to support families.
