Elementary Math and Reading Tutor, K-8

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +38 more states.

📋 Description

• Provide tutoring services to students nationwide in elementary and middle school mathematics.

• Implement pre-designed math lessons and supplementary practice materials.

• Assist students in grades K–8, allowing tutors to select their preferred grade levels.

• Conduct consistent, recurring weekly sessions with students.

• Offer targeted assistance for skills and topics at or below the student's current grade level.

• Foster meaningful professional relationships and cultivate a supportive learning environment.

• Attend at least 80% of scheduled sessions.

• Engage in the application and onboarding process.

• Possibly submit a five-minute recorded demonstration of tutoring.

• May participate in a 15-minute virtual meeting with a member of the BookNook team.

• Complete the onboarding process, which includes setting up a payment account, undergoing an FBI background check, and obtaining paid tutor certification.

⛳️ Requirements

• Background as a classroom teacher, EL/ESL/ELL professional, tutor, coach, or in a similar student support role.

• Experience in online instruction; a college degree is preferred.

• Capability to deliver pre-designed, best-practice math lessons.

• Skill in aiding students as they enhance abilities and topics at or below their current grade level.

• Proficiency in establishing meaningful professional connections with students.

• Ability to create a motivating and encouraging learning atmosphere with constructive feedback for students.

• Access to a computer (laptop or desktop).

• A webcam for online sessions.

• A clean, distraction-free environment for tutoring.

• Reliable, high-speed internet connection of at least 20 Mbps.

• Must reside in and conduct tutoring from one of the eligible U.S. states or Washington, DC.

• All sessions must be held from within the 50 United States or Washington, DC.

• Availability for at least one hour Monday through Thursday between 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM ET.
