Electrical Estimator – Utility Scale Solar

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Analyze RFQ packages, electrical schematics, site layouts, single-line diagrams, specifications, bills of materials, and associated documentation.

• Conduct thorough electrical material takeoffs, including cable lengths, harness and string counts, connectors, assemblies, accessories, and other project-specific materials.

• Create project estimates that encompass material costs, vendor pricing, freight, manufacturing expenses, customer requirements, and unique project considerations.

• Detect discrepancies in drawings, missing information, scope gaps, incompatible materials, and other potential risks.

• Record assumptions, exclusions, and necessary clarifications.

• Confirm quantities, material selections, calculations, and drawing revisions prior to the release of estimates.

• Collaborate with Supply Chain and manufacturing partners to acquire and verify supplier pricing, lead times, freight requirements, and cost inputs.

• Assist in proposal development, design modifications, value-engineering opportunities, BAFO activities, and estimate updates.

• Assess changes between estimate revisions and communicate the impacts on quantities, scope, cost, materials, and project requirements.

• Keep organized, traceable estimating files and supporting documentation.

• Engage in project award and handoff processes.

• Address estimating requirements related to project modifications, additional material requests, spare parts, and change orders.

• Enhance estimating templates, tools, checklists, standards, and review procedures.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 3 years of electrical estimating experience, or equivalent electrical construction or design experience that includes estimating and material takeoff duties.

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, site plans, specifications, and bills of materials.

• Experience in executing detailed material takeoffs and generating project estimates.

• Strong comprehension of electrical materials, cables, conductors, connectors, and electrical distribution systems.

• Excellent mathematical and analytical abilities with a keen focus on accuracy and detail.

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

• Familiarity with Bluebeam or similar takeoff and document-review software.

• Capability to manage multiple complex estimates at various stages of development.

• Preferred: Experience in renewable energy, utility-scale solar, EPC organizations, electrical contracting, or industrial electrical projects.

• Preferred: Proficiency in AutoCAD.

• Preferred: Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).

• Educational background in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, Construction Management, or a related technical field; equivalent relevant industry experience will also be taken into account.
