
Electrical Engineering Lead, Data Centers

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Design and execute electrical systems for hyper-scale data centers, encompassing medium- and low-voltage power distribution, backup power solutions, and emergency systems.
• Create and sustain electrical schematics, bills of materials, and installation diagrams.
• Ensure adherence to industry standards, codes, and regulations, including NEC and IEC guidelines.
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to establish specifications, design criteria, and project budgets.
• Evaluate electrical systems to identify and address issues, including load balancing, capacity planning, and optimization of power consumption.
• Oversee and maintain electrical systems through preventative maintenance, testing, and repairs.
• Develop and implement electrical safety protocols and training programs.
• Suggest technologies that enhance the reliability and efficiency of data center infrastructure.
• Take responsibility for the success of projects within the electrical discipline.
• Provide specialized technical insights, mentorship, and leadership to supporting staff and mid-level engineers.
• Approve and endorse work as the Engineer of Record.
• Offer engineering budget and schedule estimates for large, complex projects.
• Foster technical client relationships and play a significant role in sales efforts.
• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering along with ten (10) years of pertinent experience in electrical design and/or engineering focused on data center infrastructure, or a proven equivalent of experience and/or education.
• A Professional Engineer License (P.E.) is mandatory.
• Extensive experience in electrical engineering for data centers or other critical facilities is required.
• Strong understanding of NEC (NFPA70) is essential.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are necessary.
• Ability to cultivate and maintain robust client relationships.
• Capacity to think innovatively and recognize opportunities to improve the client experience.
• Experience with building information modeling (BIM) software, particularly ACC Cloud.
• Familiarity with data center design and construction, including design criteria and industry standards.
• Capability to work remotely from various US locations where AECOM has an office.
• Occasional travel may be required as per schedule.
