This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Design, program, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot SCADA systems, PLCs, HMIs, RTUs, gateways, instrumentation, edge devices, and industrial networks.

• Configure and provide support for Ignition SCADA applications, which includes Perspective HMI, scripting, alarming, Tag Historian, reporting, and data visualization.

• Create specifications for SCADA systems, along with network drawings, I/O lists, control narratives, commissioning records, and operational handover documentation.

• Lead or assist in Factory Acceptance Testing, Site Acceptance Testing, systems integration, commissioning, troubleshooting, and operational handover processes.

• Review electrical drawings, P&IDs, control schematics, network diagrams, communication architectures, and panel designs.

• Collaborate with customers, internal teams, contractors, and vendors to fulfill technical requirements and adhere to project schedules.

• Identify and implement enhancements to SCADA standards, cybersecurity measures, system performance, reliability, and long-term maintainability.

• Complete tasks in compliance with applicable safety, electrical, regulatory, customer, and Shermco requirements.

• Travel to customer and project sites across Canada and the United States, which may involve occasional overnight stays and work outside of standard business hours during commissioning, outages, or critical system events.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Automation, or a related engineering discipline.

• An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.

• At least five years of experience in SCADA design, programming, systems integration, commissioning, or troubleshooting.

• Proficient in Ignition SCADA, particularly with Perspective HMI, Python or Jython scripting, alarming, Tag Historian, and reporting.

• Hands-on experience in configuring, programming, and troubleshooting PLCs, RTUs, industrial controllers, gateways, and edge devices.

• Knowledgeable about industrial networks, fiber optics, VPNs, remote access, OT communications, and protocols such as OPC UA, DNP3, Modbus TCP/RTU, and RS-485.

• Capable of interpreting electrical single-line diagrams, P&IDs, control schematics, network diagrams, and I/O lists.

• Strong skills in technical documentation, communication, problem-solving, and project coordination.

• Ability to work independently in a remote setting while collaborating with teams spread across different locations.

• Legally eligible to work in Canada and willing to travel within Canada and the United States, abiding by applicable border-entry requirements.

• Preferred: Experience with electrical substations, protection and control systems, three-phase power, or power system automation.

• Preferred: Familiarity with SEL protection relays, RTACs, AcSELerator software, Ignition Edge, Opto 22, CODESYS, or Red Lion products.

• Preferred: Understanding of solar power, battery energy storage systems, distributed energy resources, or renewable power generation.

• Preferred: Experience with Linux operating systems and cybersecurity practices relevant to industrial or operational technology.

• Preferred: Knowledge of SCADA panel design, telecommunications, CCTV, access control, water or wastewater systems, pumping systems, utilities, data centers, or industrial facilities.

• Preferred: Experience in delivering customer-facing engineering or systems integration projects.

• Preferred: Relevant certifications in Ignition, cybersecurity, automation, networking, or project management.

• Travel of up to 20% within Canada and the United States is required.

• A valid driver’s license may be necessary when driving is a key component of a project assignment.
