This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Design and maintain electrical schematics for modular containerized data centers, which includes creating single-line diagrams, performing load calculations, generating panel schedules, and planning grounding, cable sizing, and raceway layouts.
• Conduct protective device coordination, arc flash, and short-circuit analyses; generate field labels and coordination documentation.
• Assess and mark up vendor submissions for UPS, battery systems, cooling distribution, switchgear, distribution boards, PDUs, and generator/ATS packages.
• Assist manufacturing partners by addressing RFIs, resolving layout and routing conflicts, and participating in factory witness testing.
• Aid in ensuring compliance with international electrical, fire, and mission-critical facility regulations; collaborate with Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
• Create Statements of Requirements, design basis documents, block diagrams, and commissioning procedures.
• Work in partnership with mechanical, controls, structural, and fire protection engineers, as well as external consultants.
• Assist in field commissioning and troubleshooting, which may involve occasional international travel to manufacturing sites, deployments, and trade events.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 3–7 years of post-degree experience in electrical design, with at least 2 years in data centers, mission-critical facilities, industrial power, or similarly complex power distribution environments.
• Proficient understanding of NEC (NFPA 70) and preferably one or more IEC-based national standards.
• Practical experience with protection coordination and arc flash software such as SKM PowerTools, ETAP, EasyPower, or equivalent tools.
• Expertise in AutoCAD Electrical and/or Revit MEP, along with Bluebeam Revu or similar software for submittal markup.
• Knowledge of UPS systems, medium- and low-voltage switchgear, transformers, and generator/ATS integration.
• Capability to interpret mechanical and structural drawings to identify interdisciplinary conflicts.
• Strong written communication skills for RFI responses, submittal evaluations, and technical documentation.
• PE or EIT licensure is advantageous, though not mandatory.
• Experience with containerized or modular/prefabricated data center solutions is preferred.
• Familiarity with high-density liquid-cooled GPU systems and their electrical considerations is preferred.
• Knowledge of battery chemistries beyond VRLA and lithium-ion, as well as UL 9540A or equivalent testing standards, is preferred.
• Understanding of NFPA 70E, NFPA 75/76, NFPA 110, and NFPA 855 is preferred.
• Experience interacting with multiple Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) and international insurance organizations is preferred.
• Exposure to BMS/DCIM integration, BACnet/Modbus, and electrical controls handoffs is preferred.
• Experience working with external manufacturing partners and consultants across various time zones is preferred.
