This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Develop and uphold discipline-specific BIM requirements for electrical systems, encompassing medium- and low-voltage power distribution, switchgear, UPS, generators, busway, cable tray, grounding, and lighting.

• Establish modeling standards, LOD expectations, content and family libraries, parameter and classification schemes, along with model quality checklists.

• Document and outline model authoring, exchange, federation, clash-testing, and sign-off workflows through playbooks and templates.

• Evaluate and enhance requirements based on project feedback, while coordinating cross-discipline interfaces, shared parameters, and coordination priorities.

• Conduct and lead discipline model reviews across various projects, ensuring quality, completeness, and constructability.

• Facilitate clash detection and resolution for busway, cable tray, electrical equipment working clearances, mechanical interfaces, and structural framing.

• Assist in fabrication-level modeling for prefabricated electrical room modules, skid-mounted equipment, and busway or tray assemblies.

• Engage in project coordination meetings as the authoritative figure for the electrical discipline.

• Act as the primary VDC liaison for trade contractors, internal design teams, and external design firms.

• Onboard partners, evaluate BIM execution capabilities, audit incoming models, and provide structured corrective feedback.

• Document project lessons learned and incorporate them into updates for standards, content libraries, and playbooks.

• Contribute to corporate VDC initiatives, technology assessments, CDE workflows, and downstream model-data integration.


⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5+ years of experience in BIM/VDC coordination or electrical power distribution design within data center, mission-critical, or heavy industrial environments.

• Knowledge of NEC working clearance and equipment access requirements.

• Advanced proficiency in Revit MEP and Navisworks.

• Experience with electrical design or calculation tools such as ETAP or SKM is preferred.

• Familiarity with prefabrication workflows is advantageous.

• Proven experience in developing or enforcing discipline BIM standards, content libraries, and coordination workflows across various projects or partner organizations.

• Strong grasp of construction sequencing, prefabrication, and field installation practices.

• Capability to evaluate model constructability beyond merely ensuring geometric clash-free designs.

• Competence in collaborating with trade contractors, design firms, and internal engineering teams while holding partners accountable to established standards.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Willingness to travel to project sites and fabrication facilities as necessary.

• Authorization to work in the United States, as IREN participates in E-Verify.
