Elastic Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Architect, implement, and optimize Elastic Stack solutions in cloud, on-premises, and hybrid settings.

• Manage migrations from legacy security platforms, including translating detection from SPL to ES|QL and modernizing analyst workflows.

• Design and develop data ingestion pipelines utilizing Elastic Agent, Fleet, Logstash, and Beats.

• Strengthen deployments to ensure federal compliance, incorporating TLS, PIV/CAC, SSO/SAML, STIG, and audit logging.

• Create outcome-focused dashboards and sophisticated Kibana visualizations.

• Develop automation using Ansible, Terraform, or equivalent Infrastructure-as-Code tools.

• Articulate technical decisions and trade-offs directly to client stakeholders.

• Contribute to internal intellectual property such as reusable templates, automation scripts, and reference architectures.

• Support the implementation of Elastic-based solutions across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid infrastructures.

• Lead technical implementations and assist with migrations.

• Engage directly with client stakeholders.

• For Senior level, oversee engagements from initial scoping to delivery while fostering client relationships and identifying expansion opportunities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Familiarity with Elastic Stack capabilities and their applications in deployment, security, and operations.

• Knowledge of distributed cluster architecture at scale, including multi-tenant and CCS environments.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and a self-motivated approach.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Basic understanding of Linux CLI and networking fundamentals.

• Willingness to learn about the Elastic Stack or familiarity with it.

• Capability to analyze intricate requirements and convert them into clear, actionable tasks and processes.

• U.S. citizenship is required.

• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

• Minimum of 2 years of practical experience with the Elastic Stack for Journeyman Level and above.

• Experience with containerization and Infrastructure-as-Code tools.

• Proficiency with at least one leading cloud service provider.

• Knowledge of federal security controls such as TLS, SSO/SAML, PIV/CAC, and STIG.

• Strong client-facing communication skills.

• For Senior level, 6+ years in systems engineering or infrastructure with extensive Elastic expertise.

• Proven history of leading engagements from scoping through delivery for Senior level candidates.

• In-depth understanding of distributed cluster architecture at scale, including multi-tenant and CCS environments for Senior level candidates.

• Ability to cultivate client relationships and identify opportunities for expansion for Senior level candidates.

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Elastic certifications are beneficial.

• Experience with Elastic Security, including SIEM, detection engineering, threat hunting, and legacy migration is advantageous.

• Familiarity with detection translation, such as SPL to ES|QL, is beneficial.

• Proficiency in scripting with Python, Bash, or PowerShell is beneficial.

• Exposure to AI-augmented search, RAG, or semantic search use cases is beneficial.

• Previous experience in professional services or consulting is beneficial.
