This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
β’ Design, develop, and execute educational programs focused on clinical documentation for providers, Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), and clinical personnel.
β’ Facilitate both individual and group training sessions aimed at documentation enhancement initiatives.
β’ Assist in onboarding new providers and offer educational resources and training in Inpatient and Outpatient Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI).
β’ Deliver ongoing training to CDI Specialists regarding documentation guidelines, relevant regulations, and chart review processes.
β’ Mentor CDI Specialists and create apprenticeship and orientation programs for them.
β’ Analyze data to pinpoint areas needing improved education for providers and staff.
β’ Act as a CDI expert resource for CDI specialists, coders, revenue cycle teams, and specialty groups.
β’ Advocate for adherence to CMS, Medicare documentation standards, third-party payer guidelines, Local Coverage Determinations (LCD), National Coverage Determinations (NCD), as well as coding and billing regulations.
β’ Engage in evaluating and enhancing services and regulatory compliance; communicate findings to relevant administrative levels.
β’ Lead quarterly quality assurance audits of CDI processes and work with the CDI Manager to identify educational opportunities.
β’ Serve as a super user for CDI-related Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and manage EMR data governance; update procedures and train staff on modifications.
β’ Liaise with CDI staff, leadership, coding leadership, medical staff, medical directors, physician advisors, department heads, administrators, and Population Health.
β’ Identify vague documentation issues and enhance documentation templates that support clinical protocols.
β’ Contribute to revenue, quality, and productivity targets through ongoing quality improvement, denial management, education, system testing, and implementation initiatives.
β’ Graduate from a Health Information Technology (HIT) program or an equivalent with RHIT or RHIA certification, OR possess a current Registered Nurse license, OR a current Licensed Practical Nurse license.
β’ Must achieve CDIP certification through AHIMA or CCDS certification through ACDIS within one year of employment.
β’ RN candidates should have seven years of experience in an inpatient acute care environment.
β’ LPN candidates should have eight years of clinical experience in an acute care setting.
β’ HIT/RHIT/RHIA candidates should possess seven years of experience in inpatient acute care hospital coding.
β’ Familiarity with provider healthcare compliance, revenue cycle operations, and auditing practices is essential.
β’ Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology is required.
β’ Proficiency in office software applications is necessary.
β’ Capability to analyze intricate data and reports is needed.
β’ Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities are required.
β’ Must be capable of mentoring, educating, and training others.
β’ Ability to meet established quality and productivity benchmarks is essential.
β’ Strong independent decision-making, prioritization, organization, and time management skills are necessary.
β’ Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
β’ Ability to manage high-stress and critical situations with composure and professionalism.
β’ Capacity to focus and maintain accuracy amidst frequent interruptions is essential.
β’ Adaptability to changes in the workplace and assignments is required.
β’ A Bachelorβs Degree in Health Information Management, Nursing, or a related healthcare field is preferred.
β’ CCDS-O certification is preferred.
β’ Prior supervisory or project management experience is preferred.
β’ Full-time work schedule of 40 hours per week.
β’ Exempt employment status.
