This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Take ownership of the content strategy and roadmap, which includes proposals for new course entry investments.
• Oversee the budget for portfolio content and formulate both short- and long-term strategic business plans.
• Create strategies for impactful courses that promote revenue retention and growth.
• Analyze data, financial metrics, customer feedback, industry requirements, trends, the competitive landscape, and usage analytics to inform decision-making.
• Establish the content development strategy, including specifications, timelines, budgets, resources, performance metrics, and checkpoints.
• Provide high-quality, career-oriented, pedagogically sound learning experiences.
• Suggest updates to content that align with pedagogical needs and the capabilities of the Cengage Learning Platform.
• Produce and maintain portfolio strategy documents, project initiation materials, and planning resources.
• Develop a market research strategy leveraging qualitative and quantitative feedback, financial data, and behavioral analytics.
• Conduct competitor research and gather insights from instructors, students, employers, and industry representatives.
• Identify, test, and refine content concepts through focus groups, advisory boards, customer meetings, prototypes, pilots, and proofs of concept.
• Identify, recruit, nurture, and negotiate with authors, subject matter experts, and industry partners.
• Sustain relationships with authors, content creators, and key decision-makers.
• Collaborate with authors to develop content plans that align with strategic goals, quality standards, career readiness, and competitive advantages.
• Advocate for content requirements and editorial priorities to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead and coordinate project teams to ensure timely delivery of multiple offerings within the defined scope and budget.
• Champion platform innovations that support new content development or enhance existing functionalities.
• Strong creative and inquisitive problem-solving abilities combined with a collaborative spirit.
• Capability to articulate vision and strategy while linking work to business success.
• A customer-focused perspective with a deep understanding of customer needs and challenges.
• Excellent communication skills suitable for team meetings, presentations, focus groups, and interviews.
• Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS).
• At least 3 years of experience in portfolio/product management, product development, sales, marketing, or another relevant management position.
• Ability to inspire change through influence and possess strong interpersonal skills.
• High level of self-discipline and accountability.
• Proficient financial analysis and modeling skills with an understanding of business metrics.
• A curious mindset, eagerness to learn, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Proven written and verbal communication skills for presenting information to diverse and senior-level audiences.
• Willingness to travel approximately 20% of the time.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Adobe Acrobat, AI tools, and SAP.
• Experience in the educational technology sector is preferred.
