Driver Trainer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Oregon, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Exhibit leadership in the development, training, and assessment of essential driving personnel.

• Guarantee vehicle safety, efficient operations, and exemplary customer service.

• Travel to different Sunstate locations to evaluate and deliver hands-on training.

• Suggest improvements to and assist in the implementation of the Driver development program.

• Uphold quality service by establishing and enforcing Sunstate standards and best practices.

• Foster a teamwork-oriented atmosphere that encourages outstanding customer service.

• Collaborate with local management to evaluate driving skills, coach drivers, set objectives, and support continuous development.

• Temporarily work at designated branch locations when extra support is required.

• Adhere to company policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.

• Maintain records of performance assessments.

• Assist local management with on-site training, evaluations, mentoring, and follow-up.

• Review and maintain training manuals and materials.

• Facilitate and support the rollout and enforcement of the safety training program.

• Communicate and comply with Federal DOT and state/local regulations.

• Develop and empower employees to make informed business decisions.

• Help drivers with career paths and acquiring different types of commercial driver licenses.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.


⛳️ Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience as a professional Sunstate Driver.

• Strong understanding of and commitment to Sunstate’s safety culture.

• Proven positive safety record.

• Familiarity and experience with DriveCam and the coaching process.

• Completion of a professional Driving Course.

• Strong driving history and knowledge of defensive driving techniques.

• Fully skilled and knowledgeable in operating a variety of vehicles is preferred.

• Required ground and air travel to Sunstate locations and/or educational seminars.

• Energetic, enthusiastic, and possessing superior coaching and interpersonal skills.

• Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication abilities.

• Knowledgeable and proficient in CDL Driver-related processes and procedures.

• Detail-oriented with robust organizational and time management skills.

• Ability to multitask, operate with urgency, assimilate new information, and resolve issues.

• Capability to monitor and evaluate Driver/Customer interactions and provide performance feedback.

• Understanding of current traffic laws, safe driving practices, Federal DOT regulations, and state/local rules.

• Professional appearance and presentation.

• Highly reliable and punctual.

• Valid driver’s license and CDL required.

• Fluency in English is mandatory; a second language, preferably Spanish, is advantageous.

• Ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, and lift up to 90 pounds.

• Required Class A driver’s license.
