This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.
• Oversee all activities associated with receiving organ offers for transplantation.
• Assess organ offers to determine their suitability.
• Manage the procurement of organs and the setup for transplants.
• Adhere to OPTN/UNOS guidelines for post-transplant documentation involving donor and transplant activities.
• Act as the liaison for potential transplant offers from local, regional, and national organ procurement organizations.
• Organize and dispatch teams for procurement, ensuring they reach donor sites within specified timeframes.
• Coordinate the transportation of organs via air or ground.
• Serve as a knowledgeable resource for organ recovery and preservation.
• Assist in the training of caregivers involved in organ preservation.
• Provide orientation to new residents and fellows regarding renal procurement, renal allocation, and regulatory requirements.
• Create and deliver professional education programs as necessary.
• Collect, analyze, and report data related to potential donors and accepted transplant organs.
• Participate in selection committee meetings.
• Abstract and input data into the transplant database.
• Applicants must reside in Northeast Ohio.
• Bachelor’s Degree in a science-related discipline OR a degree/diploma from an accredited Nursing School, Respiratory Therapy Program, or Paramedic Program.
• A minimum of one year of experience as an organ procurement coordinator OR clinical experience in critical care or organ procurement/transplantation.
• Maintain valid licenses and necessary certificates: Registered Nurse, Respiratory Therapist, or Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic.
• Must be available 24 hours a day when assigned.
• Compliance with controlled-substance testing is required after a job offer.
• Adherence to the annual influenza prevention program, including vaccination or an approved exemption, is mandatory.
• Preferred: Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator (CPTC) from the American Board for Transplant Certification (ABTC).
• Preferred: Previous experience in transplantation or organ procurement.
• Preferred: Relevant healthcare experience, as well as knowledge of UNOS/UNET.
