Director – Hog Procurement

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Oversee the creation, execution, and management of hog procurement initiatives for Tyson Fresh Meats.

• Act as a representative for Tyson at both state and national industry gatherings.

• Function as a backup for the Vice President of Hog Procurement.

• Assess procurement partnerships with independent suppliers.

• Innovate pricing strategies based on cutout data, lean indexing, and CME metrics.

• Supervise the continuous administration of programs and resolve supplier-related concerns.

• Collaborate with the Vice President of Procurement, regional supervisors, and the Accounting department.

• Foster supplier relationships through effective communication and networking with suppliers, buyers, and area supervisors.

• Oversee in-plant procurement operations.

• Manage staffing for buyers and production.

• Conduct annual evaluations of performance and address any disciplinary issues.

• Directly supervise procurement personnel in both plant and field settings.

• Execute formal contracts and oversee the management of the contract database.

⛳️ Requirements

• A college degree or equivalent experience in hog procurement is required.

• At least 5 years of experience as an area procurement supervisor.

• Prior purchasing experience with a comprehensive understanding of the industry.

• A minimum of 10 years in pork procurement, production, or operational roles.

• Exceptional communication and leadership capabilities.

• Willingness to travel frequently.

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and analytical abilities.

• Experience in executing written contracts and managing contract databases.

• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, with or without reasonable accommodations.
