Donation Coordinator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Nevada.

📋 Description

• Deliver precise, efficient, and prompt donor referral services to tissue processors, hospitals, coroner offices, and funeral homes.

• Oversee the donation process for musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, ocular, and birth tissue.

• Perform thorough medical screenings and assess preliminary donor eligibility.

• Engage with potential donor families to discuss donation options and complete consent/authorization and medical history forms.

• Offer emotional support and share information about the benefits of donation with bereaved families and expectant mothers/new mothers.

• Assist in tissue recovery logistics and facilitate the acquisition/recovery of tissues and corneas.

• Provide customer service to callers, stakeholders, and donor families.

• Communicate effectively with tissue and ocular recovery staff, funeral homes, coroners/medical examiners, state police departments, first responders, and hospital personnel.

• Document all interactions in accordance with established protocols.

• Review patients' clinical courses and health histories through electronic medical records.

• Maintain communication with hospital nurses and physicians.

• Screen donor tissues with contracted tissue processors for approval.

• Utilize online databases and perform accurate real-time data entry.

• Make independent daily decisions regarding donor eligibility.

• Analyze and resolve complex issues step-by-step.

• Engage in ongoing training and adhere to quality systems and corporate compliance programs.

• Ensure regular and prompt attendance while embodying the mission and core values of the Nevada Donor Network.

⛳️ Requirements

• Successful completion of a healthcare technical or professional program with current certification, such as Emergency Medical Technician, Critical Care Tech, Emergency Room Tech, Intermediate or Licensed Practical Nurse, or Hospital Corpsman.

• OR an associate degree from an accredited college/university in a relevant science major/program, such as Biology, Chemistry, Social Work, or Healthcare Administration.

• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

• One year of relevant work experience in organ, tissue, or eye procurement may substitute for educational requirements.

• Knowledge of disease processes and medical terminology.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and social media platforms.

• Basic keyboarding/typing skills at 45 wpm.

• May require AATB certification as a Certified Tissue Banking Specialist within three years of employment.

• Must maintain AATB certification once obtained.

• Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Proficiency in English; knowledge of a second language is preferred.

• Capability to work shifts and occasionally required overtime.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced decision-making environment with a moderate to heavy workload.

• Competence in performing essential duties satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.
