District Manager – Primary Care

📋 Description

• Assemble, recruit, train, deploy, mentor, develop, and retain a high-achieving team of primary-care sales representatives.

• Achieve sales performance and Brand KPIs to fulfill or surpass district sales plans while adhering to expense budgets.

• Supervise daily field activities and manage the day-to-day operations of assigned team members.

• Educate the field team on product knowledge, market dynamics, brand strategy and tactics, corporate policies, and business planning.

• Ensure the implementation of territory account plans for monthly, quarterly, and annual product sales and launch goals.

• Establish and track sales targets and budgets, oversee Sales Force Management Systems and KPIs, and optimize resource allocation.

• Align district priorities, activities, and engagement plans with brand strategy and national strategic goals.

• Propel revenue and profit objectives while managing expenses judiciously.

• Hold direct reports accountable through field visits, individual meetings, and performance evaluations.

• Organize and execute plans of action and other meetings in collaboration with Sales Leadership.

• Assess and monitor team performance to enhance territory performance and meet targets.

• Uphold standards for compliance, product knowledge, brand messaging, digital-resource usage, competitor analysis, and selling skills.

• Address performance deficiencies and collaborate with Regional Directors and HR on disciplinary measures.

• Work with Medical, Market Access, Field Reimbursement, Account Management, Inside Sales, Marketing, and Operations on territory strategies and sales objectives.

• Plan, predict, and manage the operating budget while monitoring expenditures.

• Maintain technical knowledge to respond to product, policy, and business inquiries.

• Conduct field visits and provide feedback, guidance, and coaching to Sales Representatives.

• Assist in developing plans of action and National Sales Meetings, including objectives, workshops, participants, timelines, agendas, and post-meeting metrics.

• Exemplify compliance with laws and company policies while ensuring ethical and compliant team activities.

• Engage in cross-functional launch-readiness initiatives.

• Travel approximately 80% in the field, including potential overnight and weekend travel.


⛳️ Requirements

• A BS/BA degree is required.

• A minimum of five (5) years of successful pharmaceutical sales experience; primary-care experience is highly preferred.

• At least three (3) years of sales management experience in the pharmaceutical industry is strongly preferred.

• Demonstrated leadership, management, and coaching abilities of cross-functional teams or individual contributors.

• Launch planning experience is strongly preferred, particularly in primary care.

• Experience coaching total office call activity in a primary-care or specialty environment using company resources.

• Proven ability to build relationships with HCPs, pharmacies, and other key stakeholders.

• Capability to understand disease states, patient profiles, and treatment pathways and present clinical information effectively.

• Documented success in sales, including meeting or exceeding territory objectives.

• Strategic thinking, integrity, accuracy, and meticulous attention to detail.

• Experience with CRM systems and performance analysis, with a focus on optimization.

• Strong skills in presentation, organization, administration, and communication.

• Excellent interpersonal, conflict-resolution, consensus-building, and collaboration abilities.

• Capability to set a vision, lead change, and coach or mentor others.

• Ability to provide candid, effective feedback and manage performance outcomes.

• Knowledge of assigned products, treatment regimens, competitor offerings, and market and industry trends.

• Previous experience promoting newly launched products is strongly preferred.

• Marketing or other commercial experience, understanding of financial processes, Market Access, project management skills, and knowledge of biotech/pharma regulatory environments are advantageous.

• Advanced skills in business analytics, problem-solving, prioritization, flexibility, and change management.

• Proficiency in utilizing corporate reporting tools and technology.

• Completion of the full onboarding curriculum, including clinical modules, CRM documentation, and fair-balance call standards.

• Successful passage of live-call certification and mock objection handling during ride-along training.

• Participation in refresher meetings on product and disease-state updates.

• A valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to pass a comprehensive background check.

• Must possess valid licenses and credentials necessary to conduct business within the assigned territory.

• Ability to travel by car or plane to target accounts, customers, meetings, and conventions.
