Distribution Line Engineer – Level 3

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona.

πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Design and obtain permits for overhead and underground distribution lines.

β€’ Conduct conductor selection, pole loading analysis, equipment sizing, voltage drop evaluations, and system optimization.

β€’ Create construction work packages, drawings, bills of materials, staking sheets, and cost estimates.

β€’ Execute field visits, routing studies, engineering evaluations, feasibility assessments, and site evaluations.

β€’ Develop or facilitate designs for both greenfield and brownfield electric utility and power generation projects.

β€’ Provide peer reviews and mentor engineers and designers on quality control and assurance processes.

β€’ Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams including civil, structural, electrical, environmental, geotechnical, and permitting professionals.

β€’ Collaborate with utility companies, independent power producers, industrial clients, and energy-sector stakeholders on project objectives, technical specifications, constraints, and regulatory compliance.

β€’ Prepare comprehensive engineering designs, plans, and construction documents using design software.

β€’ Assess designs for alignment with client standards, NESC, industry practices, environmental regulations, and safety protocols.

β€’ Manage multiple projects with minimal supervision while serving as a technical resource for project teams.

β€’ Supervise project execution, quality control, schedule management, and client satisfaction.

β€’ Undertake moderate to highly complex engineering design tasks and provide technical guidance to junior staff.

β€’ Assist in project pursuits, proposal development, scope definition, and client relationship management.

β€’ Engage in site visits, field investigations, construction support activities, and project meetings.

β€’ Formulate job site visit safety plans and comply with GAI and client safety protocols.

β€’ Assign tasks, coordinate engineering efforts, and prepare scopes, budgets, and schedules.

β€’ Develop and review project documentation for conformity and quality assurance.

β€’ Lead project meetings and represent the organization in engineering communications.

β€’ Mentor direct reports and other engineers.


⛳️ Requirements

β€’ 8+ years of relevant experience.

β€’ B.S. or M.S. in Engineering; a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline is required.

β€’ Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, with reciprocity in multiple states.

β€’ Experience supporting distribution line projects.

β€’ Proven experience working with multidisciplinary teams in utility, energy, industrial, and power generation projects from inception to completion.

β€’ Familiarity with SRP, APS, and TEP engineering standards, permitting requirements, and design practices.

β€’ Experience delivering utility infrastructure projects within Arizona.

β€’ Experience in leading multidisciplinary engineering projects and mentoring junior staff.

β€’ Strong proficiency in engineering design software.

β€’ Knowledge of NESC requirements, client standards, industry best practices, environmental regulations, and safety requirements.

β€’ Capability to conduct field visits and utilize information to create drawings.

β€’ Ability to learn, retain, and apply on-the-job training while efficiently utilizing design software packages.

β€’ Capacity to multitask, prioritize work, and adapt to shifting deadlines and scope changes.

β€’ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

β€’ Ability to work effectively in design teams and collaborative settings.

β€’ Willingness to travel to project sites, client offices, and other GAI locations as needed; approximately 10%–20% local/regional travel.

β€’ Advanced oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interpret complex technical and contractual language.
