This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Act as the primary technical consultant to the CTO/CIO and the executive leadership team regarding data strategy, integration architecture, and enterprise data platforms.

• Define and take ownership of the enterprise-wide data and integration architecture vision, ensuring alignment with business strategy, product roadmap, and growth objectives.

• Drive high-level technology strategy decisions at the enterprise level, including platform direction, build-vs-buy choices, and technology investment priorities.

• Present architectural vision, risk evaluations, and recommendations for technology investments to executive leadership and, when appropriate, the board.

• Oversee and enhance the enterprise integration architecture, integrating ERP, CRM, HR, and SaaS systems.

• Set enterprise-wide integration standards, patterns, and principles for batch, near-real-time, and event-driven architectures.

• Provide architectural governance and oversight for large-scale integration projects, such as Workday implementations and M&A system integrations.

• Establish organizational standards for error handling, logging, monitoring, retry logic, and performance metrics.

• Own the vision for the target-state data platform architecture utilizing Microsoft Fabric and associated Azure services.

• Develop architectural principles for landing zones, transformation layers, and modeling standards.

• Ensure that the data platform strategy supports scalable, cost-efficient analytics, AI/ML, and product innovation.

• Align data ingestion pipelines with the enterprise integration architecture to minimize redundancy and technical debt.

• Define and advocate for the enterprise data governance framework and operating model.

• Establish enterprise-level data domains, ownership, stewardship, and metadata standards.

• Direct the strategic approach for governance tools such as Microsoft Purview, including lineage, cataloging, and classification.

• Lead the enterprise architecture review board or its equivalent.

• Mentor and cultivate senior architects and technical leads.

• Influence hiring criteria, technical interview structures, and career development pathways.

• Develop and maintain reference architectures, design guidelines, and records of architectural decisions.

• Shape the engineering culture around architectural rigor, documentation standards, and design-first methodologies.


⛳️ Requirements

• Over 15 years of progressive experience in data architecture, integration architecture, or platform architecture.

• A minimum of 5 years operating at a principal, distinguished, or equivalent senior architecture level.

• Proven track record of establishing an enterprise-wide architectural vision and strategy that significantly influenced business outcomes.

• Extensive expertise in designing enterprise integrations using iPaaS or middleware platforms (such as Boomi or similar), across batch, near-real-time, and event-driven patterns.

• Strong knowledge of modern data warehousing/lakehouse architectures and Microsoft data platforms (Fabric, Synapse, SQL, Power BI, or similar).

• Demonstrated experience in defining and executing enterprise data governance frameworks and metadata management tools (like Purview or similar).

• Advanced SQL capabilities.

• Proficient in at least one scripting/programming language (Python preferred).

• Familiarity with APIs, REST, JSON, and data transformation pipelines.

• History of influencing executive-level technology decisions and effectively presenting to senior leadership.
