Disease Surveillance & Outbreak Project Officer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Sudan.

📋 Description

• Oversee the daily execution of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) preparedness and response initiatives within the designated county.

• Assist county and sub-county health teams in strategizing and implementing project interventions.

• Facilitate activities related to surveillance, infection prevention and control, risk communication, community engagement, and emergency preparedness.

• Ensure the prompt execution of project work plans while adhering to approved schedules.

• Organize and manage meetings, training sessions, simulations, and supportive supervision activities.

• Provide technical support for EVD preparedness and response initiatives.

• Assist in the dissemination and application of national EVD guidelines, protocols, and standard operating procedures.

• Enhance county rapid response capabilities and preparedness resources.

• Monitor preparedness and adherence to infection prevention and control standards at county and health facilities.

• Gather, verify, compile, and ensure the quality of project data and reports.

• Track progress against objectives and identify any implementation gaps.

• Prepare weekly, monthly, and activity reports for the EVD Response & Surge Coordinator.

• Document best practices, lessons learned, and success stories.

• Collaborate with State and County Health Departments, implementing partners, community organizations, and other stakeholders.

• Participate in task force coordination meetings and technical working groups.

• Build relationships with community leaders and perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in public health, Nursing, Clinical Medicine, Epidemiology, Community Health, Health Systems Management, or a related discipline.

• At least three (3) years of relevant experience in public health programs, emergency preparedness, disease outbreak response, or humanitarian programming.

• Experience in supporting infectious disease preparedness and response activities is a valuable asset.

• Familiarity with government structures and health systems in South Sudan is preferred.

• Proven experience in project coordination, monitoring, and reporting.

• Solid understanding of public health emergency preparedness and response systems.

• Knowledge of Haemorrhagic Virus Diseases, including EVD preparedness and response interventions.

• Strong skills in coordination and stakeholder engagement.

• Excellent writing and communication skills.

• Effective planning and organizational abilities.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and data management tools.

• Strong interpersonal and teamwork capabilities.
