Disability Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Offer consultation and oversight for care programs and direct care providers.

• Intervene as necessary to guarantee appropriate placement and medical management for children with significant medical needs.

• Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices for evidence-based healthcare tailored to children with disabilities.

• Evaluate grantee compliance with reasonable accommodations and access to essential services.

• Collaborate with partners to enhance services for children with disabilities in ORR care and following reunification.

• Act as the subject matter expert during clinical case reviews to ensure adherence to statutory responsibilities.

• Conduct site visits and needs assessments to oversee disability services.

• Provide training to staff and stakeholders on child safety and disability-informed practices.

• Engage in cross-ORR workgroups to ensure compliance with legal settlements.

• Evaluate risks of abuse, neglect, exploitation, sexual abuse, and sexual harassment for children with disabilities.

• Recommend and supervise safety protocols and interventions.

• Oversee healthcare services to ensure health, safety, and compliance with settlement agreements.

⛳️ Requirements

• MD, DO, NP, or PhD with an active clinical license.

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in disability services and addressing complex medical needs.

• Experience with compliance, accessibility, and child welfare systems.

• Capable of obtaining and maintaining a Public Trust Clearance.

• Understanding of migrant/refugee issues, particularly as they pertain to children.

• Background in working for a refugee program.

• Previous experience in a consulting environment.

• Demonstrated ability to foster and contribute to an equitable and inclusive organizational culture and environment.

• Proficient in managing competing priorities, perspectives, and stakeholder needs.

• Exceptional verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.

• Exemplary professionalism, judgment, discretion, tact, and diplomacy.
