Disability Specialist

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Offer consultation and oversight for care programs and direct care providers.

• Intervene to ensure appropriate placement and medical management for children with high medical needs.

• Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices for evidence-based healthcare for children with disabilities.

• Evaluate grantee compliance with reasonable accommodations and access to services.

• Collaborate with partners to enhance disability services in ORR care and post-reunification.

• Act as a subject matter expert during clinical case reviews.

• Perform site visits and needs assessments to oversee disability services.

• Educate staff and stakeholders on child safety and disability-informed practices.

• Engage in cross-ORR workgroups to ensure adherence to legal settlements.

• Evaluate vulnerabilities related to sexual abuse, harassment, abuse, and neglect.

• Suggest and oversee safety protocols and interventions.

• Provide oversight for healthcare services to ensure health, safety, and settlement compliance.

⛳️ Requirements

• MD, DO, NP, or PhD with a valid clinical license.

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in disability services and complex medical needs.

• Familiarity with compliance, accessibility, and child welfare systems.

• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance.

• Understanding of migrant/refugee issues, especially concerning children.

• Experience working within a refugee program.

• Previous work experience in a consulting setting.

• Ability to foster and contribute to an equitable and inclusive organizational culture and environment.

• Capacity to manage competing priorities, perspectives, and stakeholder requirements.

• Exceptional verbal, interpersonal, and written communication abilities.

• High degree of professionalism, judgment, discretion, tact, and diplomacy.

• Must be able to submit the application personally as the applicant.
