• The Director of Warehousing, Inventory Control & Logistics is a senior leadership position accountable for the comprehensive physical supply chain that supports the company's U.S. data center construction initiatives. Reporting to the Vice President of Data Center Procurement, this role involves developing and managing strategies, organizational structures, and operational execution for warehousing, inventory control, and both domestic and international logistics. This is crucial for ensuring that essential construction materials, long-lead equipment, and electrical/mechanical infrastructure are delivered on-site punctually, completely, and cost-effectively to support an aggressive multi-site data center construction schedule. This position demands a leader capable of functioning at both strategic and tactical levels: crafting scalable warehousing and inventory networks, negotiating global freight and customs strategies, and enforcing daily execution discipline throughout a distributed network of laydown yards, regional distribution centers, and job-site material staging areas. An immediate focus will be transitioning from predominantly spreadsheet-driven inventory practices to a formal inventory management platform (or interconnected platforms) that encompass both the infrastructure/construction and technology/IT aspects of the business. Additionally, it is vital to clarify how the inventory function interacts with asset management, maintenance planning, and future CMMS/EAM systems.

⛳️ Requirements

• Warehousing, Inventory Control & Systems

• - Design, establish, and oversee a network of warehouses, laydown yards, and staging facilities to facilitate concurrent U.S. data center construction projects.

• - Take ownership of inventory accuracy, cycle counting, and stock reconciliation initiatives; set KPIs for inventory turns, fill rate, shrinkage, and carrying costs.

• - Select, implement, and enhance warehouse management (WMS) and inventory control technologies (RFID/barcode scanning, mobile data capture, ERP integration) to create a singular source of truth for on-hand inventory across all locations.

• - Develop material handling, storage, and safety standards across all warehousing sites in accordance with OSHA and company EHS regulations.

• - Implement min/max stocking strategies and maintain buffer inventory for long-lead and critical electrical/mechanical equipment (switchgear, generators, transformers, CRAH/CRAC units, etc.) and networking equipment.

• - Lead the transition from spreadsheet-based tracking to a formal inventory management platform, encompassing requirements definition, build-versus-buy analysis, vendor selection, phased implementation, and site-level change management and training.

• - Determine the necessary platform architecture to accommodate diverse asset classes — infrastructure and construction materials versus technology and IT hardware — assessing whether a single system or an integrated multi-system approach is suitable for each.

• - Define the operational interfaces between Inventory Control, Asset Management, and Maintenance Planning, including asset tagging and serialization standards, ownership transfer at commissioning, and criticality classification for spare parts.

• - Establish data governance for item master, BOM, and location hierarchy, ensuring inventory data structures are prepared for integration with current and future CMMS/EAM systems (e.g., Maximo, SAP PM, Nuvolo).

• Domestic Logistics

• - Spearhead domestic transportation strategy (truckload, LTL, flatbed, specialized/oversize heavy-haul) to move materials from manufacturing and ports to job sites across the U.S.

• - Negotiate and manage contracts with carriers and 3PLs, rate agreements, and service-level performance to control freight expenses and guarantee timely delivery.

• - Coordinate delivery scheduling with construction and project management teams to synchronize material flow with construction sequencing and just-in-time delivery windows.

• - Develop contingency and expedite plans to address schedule risks arising from transportation delays, capacity limitations, or permitting/routing challenges (oversize/overweight loads).

• International Logistics & Trade Compliance

• - Oversee global freight forwarding, ocean and air import strategies, and customs brokerage partnerships for internationally sourced equipment and components.

• - Ensure adherence to U.S. import/export regulations, tariff classification (HTS), customs valuation, and trade compliance programs (e.g., ISF, C-TPAT).

• - Collaborate with Sourcing/Procurement to establish Incoterms and total-landed-cost strategies that optimize cost, transit time, and risk across the supply chain.

• - Monitor global supply chain risks (port congestion, geopolitical disruptions, capacity shortages) and devise mitigation and dual-sourcing/routing strategies.

• Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• - Build, mentor, and expand a high-performing team of managers and supervisors across warehousing, inventory, and logistics functions to support program growth.

• - Collaborate closely with Procurement, Construction Management, Engineering, Data Center Operations, Asset Management, IT, and Finance to align material logistics with capital project timelines and budgets.

• - Take ownership of and report key supply chain performance metrics (OTIF, freight cost per project, inventory accuracy, dwell time) to executive leadership.

• - Develop and manage the annual warehousing and logistics operational budget, identifying and implementing cost-reduction and process-improvement initiatives.

• - Establish business continuity and disaster recovery plans for essential logistics and warehousing operations.
