
Director, Thought Leader Engagement – Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Implement the annual Key Opinion Leader strategy within the designated region.
• Support the U.S. Medical Aesthetics marketing plan by managing relationships with KOLs and emerging accounts.
• Collaborate with sales leadership and Commercial Directors to identify, manage, and strategize KOL relationships.
• Design and execute programs that educate and positively influence KOLs and healthcare providers.
• Create and communicate high-quality market support that aligns with the approved product strategy and messaging.
• Work closely with Marketing, Strategic Communications, Allergan Practice Consultants, Strategic Account teams, Sales Heads, Allergan Medical Institute, Public Relations, MSL, and Global Commercial Development teams.
• Coordinate efforts across all four U.S. Medical Aesthetics cash-pay franchises.
• Cultivate existing KOLs, next-generation KOLs, and emerging leaders.
• Foster relationships with key decision-makers, thought leaders, and stakeholders to enhance Allergan’s presence and competitive edge.
• Develop VIPs, speakers, trainers, and advocates while adhering to legal and regulatory standards.
• Formulate KOL plans and strategies to ensure KOL satisfaction.
• Oversee KOL communications for major medical conferences and identify relevant emerging meetings.
• Develop and maintain the TEN app or KOL tracking platform.
• Initiate strategic programs at key accounts and organize Market Insights Programs.
• Identify influential next-generation KOLs.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders from Tech, Marketing, National Account, TLD, and other departments.
• Create regional opportunities and manage special projects.
• Collaborate with sales teams on product and portfolio opportunities.
• Attend key industry society meetings, engage local KOLs, and facilitate cross-functional meetings.
• Participate in approximately 10–12 society meetings each year and support receptions, dinners, and symposia.
• Suggest speakers, content, and agenda changes for society meetings.
• Bachelor’s degree or a suitable combination of experience and education is required.
• A Master’s degree is preferred.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in sales and/or marketing management.
• Comprehensive understanding of the healthcare or pharmaceutical sector.
• Capability to formulate and implement key strategies.
• Ability to foster relationships with physicians, AHCPs, society meeting organizers, and other healthcare professionals.
• Proficiency in working effectively within a matrixed environment.
• Skill in developing first-line managers and emerging leaders through peer influence and mentoring.
• Ability to monitor field activities and manage resources, budgets, expenses, and business operations.
• Willingness to travel 75% or more.
• Capability to establish credible and effective customer relationships through strategic discussions and engagement.
• Ability to prioritize activities and relationships across all four Aesthetic Divisions.
• Technical expertise and business acumen.
