This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the operation, maintenance, and lifecycle management of technology owned by the Business Area.
• Ensure that essential capabilities are dependable, secure, resilient, supportable, and suitable for the needs of Energy.
• Streamline the technology landscape by tackling obsolescence, excessive complexity, fragmentation, and technical debt.
• Take ongoing responsibility for new or enhanced capabilities following their successful deployment and integration into the technology framework.
• Cultivate a comprehensive understanding of how Energy employees utilize technology in engineering, technical, and business functions.
• Identify and eliminate technology-related obstacles, capability deficiencies, and hindrances to effective work.
• Enhance workflows through improved utilization of existing capabilities, automation, simplification, and user empowerment.
• Leverage operational insights and employee feedback to pinpoint opportunities that require more substantial modifications to the technology framework.
• Set priorities based on business impact, operational risk, user requirements, and technology health.
• Collaborate with Innovation & Deployment when substantial changes or new capabilities are necessary.
• Manage the organization, portfolio, resources, investments, and external providers essential for mission delivery.
• Provide the Energy CTO and Business Area leadership with transparent insights into technology health, risks, priorities, and investment requirements.
• Foster an effective, engaged team by integrating existing capabilities, nurturing talent and leaders, and creating opportunities for talent across the unified Energy organization.
• A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related technical field, along with 12+ years of pertinent professional experience; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
• Proven experience in leading and developing technical organizations and multidisciplinary teams, including the development of technical leaders.
• Demonstrated leadership in significant operational technology capabilities and experience enhancing how a technical or engineering workforce utilizes technology in their tasks.
• Ability to translate employee and business requirements into technology priorities and effectively communicate technology options, risks, and trade-offs to senior business and technical leaders.
• Proven capability to simplify complex technology environments and lead across organizational boundaries, including managing substantial technology resources, investments, and external partners.
• A Master’s degree in a relevant technical or business field is preferred.
• A deep understanding of energy, utility, engineering, or another engineering-intensive industry is preferred.
• Experience in modernizing established technology environments while ensuring operational continuity is preferred.
• A history of successful operations within a large, matrixed organization is preferred.
