• Take charge of the performance of GitLab's social media function and its impact on marketing and business objectives.
• Spearhead GitLab's global organic social media strategy, including channel plans and editorial focus.
• Oversee GitLab's YouTube strategy, encompassing channel structure, programming, video formats, packaging, optimization, subscriber growth, and watch-time enhancement.
• Collaborate with Growth Marketing on paid social initiatives, creative briefings, audience alignment, boosting, amplification, and performance analysis.
• Create audience-centric campaigns that align with company, product, brand, and talent objectives.
• Direct content planning and publishing across social channels while ensuring a consistent GitLab voice.
• Manage the social media budget, tooling infrastructure, and relationships with agencies, freelancers, and production partners.
• Work in partnership with Marketing, Communications, Product, Sales, Talent Acquisition, and other departments.
• Establish processes for collaboration within GitLab's all-remote, asynchronous environment.
• Utilize social listening, audience insights, and performance analytics to enhance content and guide marketing strategies.
• Lead social measurement frameworks, KPIs, dashboards, and reporting to marketing and executive leadership.
• Collaborate with DevRel on community engagement and industry discussions.
• Develop and manage creator, influencer, advocacy, and employee advocacy programs.
• Assist executives and experts in enhancing their social presence alongside Communications.
• Implement AI tools throughout the social workflow.
• Prepare for and guide responses to urgent or sensitive issues.
• Over 10 years of experience in social media, with at least 5 years in a senior managerial role leading social strategy for a global brand.
• Proven experience managing a social function comprehensively, including strategy, budget, headcount, tooling, and outcomes.
• Experience in leading teams, agencies, and cross-functional initiatives.
• Expertise in YouTube strategy, particularly in managing and expanding a brand or business channel.
• Hands-on experience in growing LinkedIn and X as key channels.
• Background in paid social programs, audience strategy, creative for paid initiatives, and analyzing paid performance metrics.
• Ability to connect social media initiatives with broader brand, communications, product, or business goals.
• Strong editorial acumen and the capability to distill complex topics into clear, engaging content.
• Proficiency in both short-form and long-form video content.
• Experience in establishing social measurement frameworks, KPIs, dashboards, and reporting schedules.
• Knowledge of building or scaling an employee advocacy program.
• Familiarity with Sprout Social, Meltwater, and EveryoneSocial or similar enterprise social tools.
• Experience executing social programs across various regions and languages.
• Capability to manage multiple priorities and make informed decisions in fast-paced environments.
• Ability to thrive in a distributed, asynchronous work setting.
