📋 Description

• Act as a strategic legal advisor for the Real Estate, Store Development, Construction, and Property Management teams.

• Assist in shaping retail real estate strategies and managing the store portfolio.

• Offer guidance on new store development, lease negotiations and renewals, remodels, relocations, portfolio optimization, and store closures.

• Draft, negotiate, and manage documentation related to retail real estate transactions.

• Ensure adherence to real estate-related contractual obligations and address instances of non-compliance.

• Negotiate and create amendments to resolve contractual disputes.

• Provide legal assistance to the Real Estate, Development, Construction, Facilities, and Real Estate Management departments.

• Advise and counsel management on real estate-related issues.

• Oversee and manage external counsel engaged in preparing and negotiating real estate transaction documents.

• Review and manage external counsel expenses in relation to set budgets.

• Support and, when necessary, oversee real estate-related litigation, including mechanics’ liens and construction cost disputes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Advanced Degree.

• JD.

• 5-7 years of experience.

• 8+ years of legal practice experience, ideally within a law firm, corporate legal department, or relevant regulatory agency (e.g., SEC); or a distinguished track record of managing complex matters suitable to that level of practice experience.

• Extensive experience in negotiating complex commercial retail real estate transactions.

• Familiarity with leases, intricate amendments, letters of intent, construction and design agreements, reciprocal easement agreements, purchase and sale agreements, SNDAs, estoppels, and other related documentation.

• Capability to balance legal risks with business goals in a dynamic retail setting.

• Candidates must refrain from using AI tools during interviews or assessments.
