Director, SDET

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the comprehensive quality engineering vision, strategy, and roadmap across various product lines or business units.

• Set quality gates, establish release readiness criteria, and implement CI/CD processes.

• Promote a shift-left and shift-right quality culture by incorporating testability into design reviews and utilizing production observability.

• Perform architectural reviews to pinpoint scalability, reliability, and performance risks.

• Assess and choose scalable testing tools, frameworks, and platforms.

• Spearhead the organization's strategy for adopting AI in quality engineering.

• Develop or integrate AI/ML-based testing tools to enhance coverage, productivity, and defect prediction.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, DevOps, and Security leadership.

• Furnish quality updates, metrics, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership.

• Define and track quality and productivity KPIs/OKRs.

• Oversee succession planning and mentor SDET Managers and Leads.

⛳️ Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in software testing or quality engineering.

• 5+ years in a Director or senior engineering leadership position.

• Profound expertise in Selenium, Playwright, RestAssured, or comparable test automation frameworks.

• Proficient in Java, Python, and JavaScript/TypeScript.

• Strong familiarity with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and Harness CI/CD.

• Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

• Practical experience in developing AI/ML-based testing tools.

• Knowledge of performance testing, security testing, reliability, and other non-functional quality attributes.

• Experience in architecting test strategies for microservices, distributed systems, and mobile platforms.

• Previous experience presenting AI or quality transformation initiatives at conferences is preferred.

• Experience in testing high-transaction SaaS platforms is preferred.

• Experience in building and testing Agentic AI products, including evaluation frameworks, is preferred.

• Contributions to open-source testing frameworks or published thought leadership in QE/AI are preferred.
