Director, Scientific Services

📋 Description

• Provide senior scientific and strategic leadership across the business unit.

• Drive excellence in scientific delivery, operational performance, and business growth.

• Lead and develop high-performing scientific teams that deliver high-quality, compliant, and strategically aligned medical communications.

• Serve as a strategic advisor to clients, shaping communication strategies and enhancing long-term partnerships.

• Shape proposals and presentations, identify new opportunities, and incorporate AI and omnichannel solutions into client strategies.

• Lead planning discussions that provide measurable value.

• Promote compliance standards and conduct audits in accordance with Prime and client SOPs, as well as industry regulations.

• Collaborate with client services leads to optimize resources, workflows, and processes.

• Provide scientific oversight on project progress and risks while supporting timely escalation.

• Review and guide scientific content, messaging, and data interpretation.

• Contribute scientific insights to creative concepts and designs, approving final materials.

• Partner with the Client Services Director on financial planning and forecasting.

• Support sustained business growth alongside the Client Services Director, VP, and Business Development colleagues.

• Champion team engagement, motivation, and a positive culture.

• Exemplify effective people management through one-on-ones, mentoring, development, goal setting, and performance reviews.


⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of healthcare agency experience in senior positions.

• A degree in life sciences, ideally complemented by a higher degree (such as a science Master's, PhD, or MD).

• Proven experience in leading and developing scientific/editorial teams within a medical communications agency.

• Extensive experience in medical writing and scientific leadership across a diverse range of projects and therapeutic areas.

• Demonstrated commercial and financial acumen, including experience in forecasting, resource planning, and business performance.

• Strong leadership and motivational abilities.

• Experience in building and nurturing senior client relationships, including leading strategic discussions and identifying growth prospects.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a confident presence when presenting to clients.

• Strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and delivering under tight deadlines.

• Awareness of innovations in medical communications, particularly in AI and omnichannel strategies.
