Director, Regulatory and Policy – ERCOT, Western Markets

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Develop regulatory and policy priorities that align with Calibrant's commercial goals.

• Offer strategic advice on legislative and regulatory changes impacting distributed energy resources, storage solutions, and large-load clients.

• Lead interactions with ISO/RTO market committees, utilities, and stakeholders across the ERCOT, WECC, and CAISO regions.

• Track developments in market rules, regulatory actions, and state policies, translating these into actionable business insights.

• Represent Calibrant in stakeholder meetings, industry committees, technical conferences, and trade associations.

• Advocate for regulatory and policy outcomes that foster business growth, project development, and customer solutions.

• Coordinate efforts with consultants, lobbyists, and external advisors.

• Collaborate with Market Development, Project Delivery, Market Operations, and Commercial teams.

• Engage with utilities, transmission owners, ISOs/RTOs, and regulators to promote projects and address regulatory challenges.

• Create business cases, position papers, comments, and regulatory submissions.

• Identify regulatory risks and opportunities while communicating their implications to leadership.

• Facilitate community, customer, and stakeholder engagement for infrastructure and energy initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in energy policy, regulatory affairs, market strategy, or a related field.

• Familiarity with ISO/RTO market structures and regulatory frameworks within the electricity sector.

• Experience in ERCOT and/or Western U.S. energy markets.

• Capability to convey complex regulatory issues to business and executive audiences to guide business strategy.

• Proven skills in stakeholder engagement, coalition-building, and advocacy.

• Experience collaborating with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, regulators, and trade associations.

• A Bachelor’s degree is required.

• An advanced degree is preferred.
