This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Establish the strategic framework for the Pan-Canadian alignment of registration, licensure best practices, and labor market integration.

• Collaborate with regulatory authorities and national assessment organizations to promote licensing and regulatory reforms.

• Identify and expand effective bridging initiatives and alternative practices for occupational registration.

• Enhance competency-based credential recognition via innovative and equitable registration processes.

• Provide strategic oversight for initiatives that span policy, advocacy, and organizational priorities.

• Lead engagement efforts with Fairness Commissioners and similar provincial fair registration frameworks.

• Conduct research on best practices in licensing reform and gather stakeholder input at local and regional levels.

• Oversee strategies and partnerships within sectors to support federal, provincial, municipal, and sectoral advocacy.

• Integrate regulatory and labor market intelligence into policy and strategy development.

• Represent WES at conferences, consultations, and in media engagements.

• Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with external contributors.

• Develop multi-year plans for learning, monitoring, and evaluation.

• Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing multidisciplinary team.

• Cultivate an inclusive, collaborative, supportive, innovative, results-oriented, and accountable team culture.


⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of experience at the intersection of occupational licensing regulation and labor market integration within Canada.

• Graduate degree or certification in occupational regulation, public administration, policy, law, social sciences, or a related field—or a comparable combination of education and professional or lived experience.

• Strong understanding of jurisdictional Fair Registration practices, the Regulated Health Professions Act, and ongoing regulatory modernization discussions across various professions and compulsory trades.

• Proven experience in building and leading multi-stakeholder coalitions involving government, regulators, employers, and business or industry associations.

• At least 5 years of experience in leading or managing a team.

• Demonstrated success in leading system change initiatives and engaging key stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.

• Senior leadership experience, including managing policy teams, budgets, and complex external partnerships.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication capabilities.

• Strong analytical and research competencies.

• Proven strategic thinking and systems thinking abilities.

• Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills across diverse stakeholders and cultures.

• Capability to thrive in ambiguous, dynamic, and entrepreneurial environments.

• Ability to mobilize knowledge and share relevant insights proactively.

• Experience representing an organization externally or facilitating public-facing engagements.

• Strong program management skills, organizational awareness, and sound judgment.

• Fluency in both French and English is an asset.
