This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Establish the strategic framework for the harmonization of registration and licensure best practices across Canada, alongside integration into the labour market.
• Collaborate with regulatory agencies and national assessment organizations to promote licensing and regulatory reforms.
• Identify and expand effective practices in bridging initiatives and alternative registration for occupations.
• Promote competency-based credential recognition through innovative and equitable registration processes.
• Provide strategic oversight for initiatives aligned with policy, advocacy, and organizational priorities.
• Engage with Fairness Commissioners and similar fair-registration frameworks in various provinces.
• Conduct research on best practices for licensing reform and bring together stakeholders from provincial, territorial, local, and regional levels.
• Direct strategies and partnerships across sectors that support advocacy at the federal, provincial, municipal, and industry levels.
• Incorporate regulatory and labour market intelligence into policy and strategic development.
• Represent WES at conferences, consultations, and in media engagements.
• Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and engage external contributors.
• Create multi-year learning, monitoring, and evaluation frameworks.
• Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing multidisciplinary team.
• Cultivate an inclusive, collaborative, supportive, innovative, results-oriented, and accountable team culture.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience at the intersection of occupational licensing regulation and labour market integration within Canada.
• A graduate degree or certification in occupational regulation, public administration/policy, law, social sciences, or a related discipline—or an equivalent combination of education and professional or lived experience.
• Strong understanding of jurisdictional Fair Registration practices, the Regulated Health Professions Act, and contemporary debates on regulatory modernization.
• Proven experience in building and leading coalitions of multiple stakeholders, including government, regulators, employers, and business/industry associations.
• At least 5 years of experience in a leadership or management role.
• A demonstrated history of leading system change initiatives and engaging stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
• Significant experience in senior people leadership, including managing policy teams, budgets, and intricate external partnerships.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
• Strong analytical and research capabilities.
• Proven strategic and systems thinking skills.
• Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills across diverse stakeholders and cultural contexts.
• Capacity to thrive in ambiguous, dynamic, and entrepreneurial settings.
• Proven ability to mobilize knowledge and disseminate insights to internal stakeholders.
• Experience representing an organization externally or facilitating public-facing engagements.
• Strong program management capabilities, organizational awareness, and sound judgment.
