Director, Product Manager – Tax

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the tax product roadmap from the initial discovery phase through to delivery, encompassing the entire client journey from document intake to filed returns and tax planning.

• Drive transformational change while teams maintain their commitment to delivering high-quality tax services.

• Collaborate daily with engineering, design, data, and tax leadership teams.

• Facilitate agile ceremonies and ensure the product pod is equipped to deliver effectively.

• Coordinate efforts across Technology, Tax, Wealth Management, and Operations teams.

• Manage relationships with external partners, including vendors of tax preparation software.

• Set the strategic direction for a suite of AI agents that will operate alongside tax preparation software.

• Determine the next automation initiatives and identify the role of tax managers in the process.

• Implement a thorough evaluation process to assess the accuracy and quality of AI-generated outputs.

• Leverage AI to enhance both individual and team effectiveness.

• Incorporate the AI-driven tax solution into the Mercer Advisors technology framework.

• Ensure that clients and advisors perceive tax services as part of one cohesive family office.

• Build upon shared capabilities of Mercer Advisors platforms rather than creating isolated tax tools.

• Collaborate with security and compliance teams to safeguard sensitive client tax information.

• Establish success metrics and monitor progress accordingly.

• Continuously refine processes based on usage data and feedback from tax managers, advisors, and clients.

• Effectively communicate results, impacts, and decisions to stakeholders and executive leadership.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years in product management, demonstrating a history of delivering measurable results.

• Proven experience in utilizing AI to address real business challenges.

• Familiarity with shipping products in fields where accuracy and compliance are critical.

• Background in working within or leading cross-functional teams (engineering, design, data).

• Strong capability to translate complex business processes into straightforward product requirements.

• Knowledge of LLM evaluation and human-in-the-loop design methodologies.

• Data fluency: ability to establish metrics, interpret dashboards, and derive decisions from data insights.

• Exceptional communication skills across both technical and non-technical audiences.

• A proactive approach to action while delivering outstanding products.

• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and leading change within a live operational environment.

• A client-focused mindset, prioritizing the needs of clients, tax managers, and advisors.
