Director, Product Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee all software engineering teams tasked with Assembly's products and internal platforms.

• Develop and mentor engineering managers and senior technical leaders.

• Foster a culture centered on accountability, execution, innovation, and ongoing improvement.

• Attract, retain, and nurture top engineering talent.

• Manage both domestic and offshore engineering teams.

• Take ownership of the successful delivery of AI-driven products, automation initiatives, the ARC platform, Revenue Cycle technology platforms, HL7 and interoperability solutions, customer-facing applications, internal operational systems, analytics platforms, and APIs.

• Establish best practices for software development and enhance engineering velocity while ensuring platform stability.

• Collaborate with the CTO on cloud modernization, AI platform integration, automation, scalability, security enhancements, and reducing technical debt.

• Work closely with Product Management, Operations, Client Success, Revenue Cycle Operations, Data & Analytics, Infrastructure, Information Security, and Executive Leadership.

• Create engineering metrics and executive dashboards that track sprint velocity, release cadence, defect rates, uptime, productivity, team capacity, issue resolution, and delivery predictability.

• Manage technical relationships with strategic technology vendors, AI partners, offshore development partners, integration partners, and cloud service providers.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• 15+ years of experience in software engineering.

• 8+ years of experience leading engineering organizations.

• Proven track record in developing AI-enabled products.

• Demonstrated success in building SaaS platforms.

• Experience leading Agile engineering teams.

• Experience managing distributed engineering teams.

• Strong knowledge of cloud architecture, with a preference for Azure.

• Familiarity with enterprise integrations and APIs.

• Exceptional communication skills at the executive level.

• Prior experience in healthcare technology is preferred.

• Experience in Revenue Cycle Management is preferred.

• Background in AI/ML product development is preferred.

• Experience with HL7/FHIR integration is preferred.

• Familiarity with the Microsoft technology stack is preferred.

• Experience leading organizations through periods of rapid growth is preferred.

• Experience integrating acquired technologies is preferred.
