Director, Platform Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the Azure cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes environment, ensuring it remains reliable, secure, and cost-effective.

• Lead AI-driven engineering initiatives for platform infrastructure while establishing standards, guardrails, and review practices.

• Promote infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and GitOps methodologies.

• Manage secrets and DevOps tools that support the deployment pipeline.

• Oversee and enhance database and data warehouse infrastructure.

• Develop observability and reliability protocols to enhance the developer experience.

• Manage and mentor engineers and engineering managers while actively contributing to project work.

• Collaborate with Security and Corporate IT for platform and security transitions.

• Report directly to the VP of Engineering.

• Evaluate architecture, resolve incidents, and support system builds.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform, or DevOps engineering.

• Hands-on expertise with Azure, Kubernetes, Postgres, and data warehousing.

• 3+ years of experience in managing engineers or engineering managers.

• Extensive knowledge of CI/CD, GitOps, and infrastructure as code.

• Proven ability to leverage AI coding and infrastructure tools for production system delivery.

• Experience with secrets management and associated tools.

• Proficiency in operating databases and data warehouse infrastructure at scale.

• Demonstrated history of remaining hands-on with code, architecture evaluations, and incident management.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical trade-offs and risks to non-technical stakeholders.
