Director, Operations Accounting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide strategic direction for technical, operational, and reporting initiatives that support global data center operations.

• Take ownership of accounting and month-end closing processes related to supply chain and inventory valuation, standard costs and absorption, fixed assets and capital project accounting (CIP), GRIR management, freight and logistics, and procure-to-pay (P2P).

• Establish and implement a scalable operational accounting framework, incorporating systems, workflows, and organizational structure to facilitate hyper-growth.

• Create and maintain a strong, SOX-compliant (or equivalent) control environment across operational and technical accounting functions.

• Assess, document, and apply accounting treatment for intricate transactions in collaboration with Technical Accounting and Controllership.

• Assist in the accounting review and ongoing management of long-term supplier and commercial agreements.

• Lead the accounting design for supply chain and fixed asset systems and integrations, including ERP implementations, migrations, or upgrades, as well as sub-ledger and procurement/WMS integrations.

• Provide strategic advice to Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, FP&A, IT, Tax, Treasury, and Senior Leadership.

• Collaborate with FP&A on the formulation of annual budgets, forecasts, and capital planning strategies.

• Act as the main point of contact with external auditors and Internal Audit.

• Streamline and automate processes, reduce close timelines, and mitigate operational risks.

• Begin as a hands-on player-coach, then recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing global team.

⛳️ Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including senior leadership roles, with extensive responsibility for technical, operational, cost, or reporting accounting in high-value, asset-heavy, capital-intensive, or logistics-focused environments.

• Strong technical expertise in U.S. GAAP as it applies to inventory valuation, cost accounting, fixed assets/PP&E, CIP, and procure-to-pay.

• Demonstrated experience in designing and operating SOX-compliant (or equivalent) internal control frameworks.

• Practical experience in leading or owning the accounting design for an ERP implementation, migration, or significant upgrade (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or similar).

• Proven ability to lead, coach, and scale accounting teams in high-growth, fast-paced settings.

• Exceptional executive presence and communication skills, with a history of cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, FP&A, and IT to achieve measurable results.

• Preferred: Experience in data centers, cloud infrastructure, telecom, semiconductors, hardware, manufacturing, industrials, CPG, 3PL, or multi-site retail.

• Preferred: Mastery in multiple domains including supply chain and inventory, fixed assets and capital projects, standard cost/absorption, GRIR management, freight/logistics, and procure-to-pay.

• Preferred: Experience in public-company financial reporting or preparing a rapidly growing company for its first audit or IPO.

• Preferred, but not required: CPA and/or Big 4 public accounting background; equivalent credentials are welcome (CA, ACCA, CMA).
