This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Massachusetts.
• Offer hands-on leadership, guidance, and mentorship to 2 UX researchers and 5 senior designers.
• Conduct design and research reviews to ensure the delivery of high-quality results across various projects.
• Evaluate and authorize research and design strategies.
• Drive performance development initiatives and foster team growth.
• Cultivate a collaborative and supportive team environment.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with Product and Engineering directors.
• Collaborate with the VP of Product on roadmap development and UX prioritization.
• Work together with the VP of User Experience on the evolution of UX strategy and practices.
• Represent the UX team in cross-functional planning and decision-making processes.
• Engage in quarterly business reviews with client leadership.
• Maintain systems that provide leadership and clients with visibility into team activities, assignments, and deliverables.
• Oversee project tracking to keep transparency on workload and progress.
• Ensure design consistency across ongoing Care Management and Utilization Management projects.
• Streamline workflows to enhance design output and decrease time-to-test and time-to-delivery.
• Manage roadmap shifts and uncertainty while sustaining team productivity.
• Lead weekly team meetings and bi-weekly critique sessions.
• Mentor the team on product-management collaboration and address blockers needing senior intervention.
• Collaborate with Product throughout the entire product development lifecycle from discovery to design and build.
• Report directly to the VP of User Experience.
• Act as the operational lead for the embedded UX team serving a healthcare technology client.
• Over 5 years of experience in UX leadership positions, including roles as a Director or similar.
• Demonstrated experience managing teams of 5–10 UX professionals, encompassing designers and researchers.
• Extensive expertise in complex enterprise healthcare software systems.
• Strong preference for candidates with experience in health insurance/payer systems.
• Successful background in an in-house product organization or a deeply integrated consulting role.
• Experience managing geographically distributed or offshore teams.
• Capable of fostering influential relationships with senior product and engineering leaders.
• Proficient in design critique and providing actionable feedback.
• Strong facilitation abilities for cross-functional alignment.
• Process-oriented with a toolkit for UX best practices.
• Comfortable navigating ambiguous and rapidly changing environments.
• Ability to mentor UX professionals to enhance their skills and impact.
• Experience overseeing research and translating insights into design direction.
• Proactive in problem-solving and overcoming obstacles.
• Collaborative leadership style that fosters trust and psychological safety.
• Results-oriented with a focus on delivery and team well-being.
• Enthusiasm for healthcare and enhancing user experiences in complex environments.
• Must be based in the US, preferably within the Eastern Time Zone.
• Candidates from the Boston area are preferred.
• Willingness to travel to Boston HQ or occasionally visit customer sites.
