Director of Software Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Direct the strategy and implementation of Engineering and Technology at Aerostrat.

• Facilitate the development and upkeep of scalable, secure, and efficient applications and services.

• Lead project management, technical architecture, and engineering methodologies.

• Build a highly proficient Engineering team through recruitment, upskilling, mentoring, and retention efforts.

• Collaborate with the CEO, Leadership team, and Product team on the product and company vision and strategy.

• Develop and execute Aerostrat’s Engineering strategy.

• Articulate the technology and Engineering vision and strategy to both internal and external stakeholders.

• Establish objectives for the organization and the Engineering department.

• Oversee the complete development lifecycle, encompassing requirements analysis, planning, design/architecture, execution, hosting, deployment, and maintenance.

• Expand Aerostrat’s technology stack and maintain a robust Engineering hiring/staffing plan.

• Recruit, interview, and onboard Engineering talent.

• Manage the Information Security Management System (ISMS).

• Act as the technical and Engineering department representative within the Information Security Team.

• Ensure the implementation and compliance of Engineering information security controls.

• Supervise information security controls for production infrastructure.

• Serve as the face of the Engineering team when interfacing with prospective and current customers.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of software engineering experience in B2B SaaS.

• More than 5 years of software engineering leadership experience.

• At least 5 years of experience with Azure or AWS cloud projects, managing total cost of ownership and/or development.

• A minimum of 5 years in system design.

• Over 5 years of direct engagement with customers.

• Expertise in software engineering design, development, and testing.

• Deep understanding of software security, performance, globalization, and scalability.

• Extensive experience with C#/.NET.

• Significant experience with SQL Server/Azure SQL Databases.

• Proficient in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

• Significant experience with AngularJS (1.x) or similar frameworks.

• Strong background in REST APIs and microservices.

• Experience with build tools like Webpack.

• Familiarity with WebGL and/or Canvas.

• Proven experience in building, deploying, and supporting B2B cloud solutions on Azure or AWS.

• Significant experience in nurturing, upskilling, mentoring, and retaining a high-performing Engineering team.

• Comfortable engaging with prospective and current customers.

• Knowledge of cybersecurity standards such as ISO 27001 and SOC 2.

• A self-starter eager to learn and enhance the engineering stack.

• Positive attitude coupled with excellent written communication skills.

• Preferred: Background in aerospace or maintenance of durable assets.

• Preferred: Experience in team building and product launches.

• Preferred: Familiarity with ISO 27001, SOC 2, and GDPR.

• Preferred: Over 3 years of experience with HTML/CSS/JS and AngularJS or similar technologies.

• Preferred: 3+ years of Python or a similar programming language experience.

• Preferred: 3+ years of C# and/or ASP.NET or similar experience.

• Preferred: 3+ years of SQL Server, Azure SQL, SQL, and/or DBA experience.

• Preferred: 3+ years of experience with IdP, Entra ID, SAML 2.0, or OIDC.
