This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +2 more states.
• Oversee the creative development and implementation of Sierra Club’s social media presence, encompassing voice, visual aesthetics, creative content, and platform strategies.
• Guide and consult with organizational leaders and stakeholders on social media strategies.
• Monitor industry trends, innovative creative campaigns, pop culture, and current events to generate timely content.
• Manage multiple issues and changing priorities while ensuring a cohesive organizational voice.
• Create visual and narrative-based content across various social media platforms.
• Develop content strategies that enhance engagement and foster community growth.
• Build and lead a team of strategists, creatives, and content developers.
• Encourage innovation, collaboration, accountability, professional growth, and project management opportunities.
• Establish and meet programmatic goals that integrate marketing, fundraising, storytelling, list expansion, crisis management, influencer engagement, and organizing tactics.
• Formulate data-driven strategies and monitor as well as report audience, content, and platform engagement insights.
• Generate monthly and quarterly reports on social media performance.
• Create and uphold social media governance frameworks, processes, intake, scheduling, and review protocols.
• Educate internal staff, chapters, and volunteers on social media best practices and brand standards.
• Oversee contracts and projects with external vendors.
• Be available for occasional weeknight and weekend hours due to the 24-hour news cycle.
• Demonstrated success in managing people, projects, and social media platforms.
• Comprehensive experience in handling all aspects of a Social Media team.
• Proven ability to lead a team toward successful results while also performing hands-on tasks as required.
• Innovative, narrative-driven social media and transformational strategies.
• Proficient technical skills and creative tool capabilities.
• Established history of building social media processes and infrastructure.
• Experience in developing and executing both qualitative and quantitative data-informed strategies.
• Ability to navigate competing priorities with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Significant management experience is essential.
• Strong communication and coaching skills to support team development.
• Experience in creating governance frameworks for social programming and training content creators on best practices and brand standards.
• In-depth knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, Reddit, and Substack.
• Strong familiarity with social media scheduling, monitoring, analytics, and reporting tools.
• Effective equity analysis and practice abilities.
• Advanced understanding of group dynamics and their effects on supervisory relationships, organizational culture, partnerships, campaigns, and coalition efforts.
• Experience within the environmental movement or social justice advocacy space is preferred (strongest candidates).
• Background in influencer cultivation and partnership is a plus (strongest candidates).
• Existing partnerships with influencers are highly regarded (strongest candidates).
