Director of Product Management – Platforms

📋 Description

• Take charge of the product vision and business results for GitLab's Software as a Service (SaaS) platforms: GitLab.com and GitLab Dedicated.

• Establish the product strategy and roadmap for both GitLab.com and GitLab Dedicated, aligning platform capabilities with customer and business outcomes.

• Enhance platform reliability, scalability, and operability, including improved separation between customers and the expansion of GitLab.com's cell-based architecture.

• Determine the rate limits, usage limits, and associated monetization strategy for GitLab.com.

• Scale GitLab Dedicated by automating maintenance windows and implementing other operational enhancements, while managing costs and increasing gross margin.

• Promote customer self-service through Switchboard, providing tools for customers to monitor, observe, and manage their Dedicated tenants.

• Oversee features such as customer-initiated disaster recovery and geographic redundancy, as well as facilitate earlier access to beta features on GitLab Dedicated.

• Minimize the lag time between GitLab releases and their availability on Dedicated.

• Manage both the business aspect of the portfolio and the technical product direction, developing P&L accountability for both platforms and assisting in positioning GitLab.com as a P&L business.

• Collaborate with various teams to achieve platform priorities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in leading a product portfolio at the director level or in a similar capacity, providing direction across multiple related products rather than a single roadmap.

• Technical product experience with cloud platforms, infrastructure, or SaaS environments, including understanding the trade-offs associated with reliability, scalability, and operations.

• Capability to link product decisions to commercial outcomes, encompassing monetization, operating costs, and gross margin.

• Experience in translating intricate platform challenges into product priorities and collaborating across teams for execution.

• Ability to lead through product direction and exert influence in a director-level individual contributor capacity.

• Direct experience managing a product P&L is especially beneficial.

• Experience in an organization actively integrating artificial intelligence (AI) would also be advantageous.
