Director of Network Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.

📋 Description

• Take charge of live network and foundational plant operations across core, transport, service-edge, fiber access, wireless plant, NOC, outside plant, tower, and site operations.

• Supervise fiber access installation, maintenance, OLT/PON/splitter/ONT management, optical budgets, and FTTH escalations.

• Direct wireless installation, maintenance, AP and sector platforms, FWA configuration, and FWA escalations.

• Manage network implementation and acceptance, including turn-up, commissioning, IP assignment, routing, NMS/inventory/backup onboarding, circuit provisioning, burn-in, production release standards, and acquired-network onboarding.

• Oversee NOC operations, including 24×7 surveillance, event correlation, alarm hygiene, incident command, outage declaration, notification and ETR, dispatch, on-call, change control, post-incident reviews, and SLA reporting.

• Handle 811 tickets, locate execution and marking quality, damage investigations, claims recovery, and records feedback.

• Establish and enforce plant acceptance and integrity standards, inspections, defect remediation tracking, and contractor workmanship performance.

• Oversee tower and site maintenance, encompassing antenna/radio work, wireless-site alignment, structural systems, power, generators, batteries, HVAC, huts, cabinets, headends, and active electronics.

• Manage plant-defect escalations and provide deep-stack technical resolution.

• Collaborate with Deployment & Construction on plant acceptance and production-release gates.

• Work with Contracts and Compliance on rights, coverage, spectrum, and operating authority.

• Partner with Supply Chain and Safety Training on equipment, spares, site power, climb/OSP safety, and technical training.

• Recruit, develop, and lead the Network Operations team.

• Travel to markets to ensure responsiveness to night outages.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive senior operations and/or engineering experience in an ISP, WISP, telecommunications carrier, or similar service-provider environment.

• Proven experience leading small to medium-sized teams.

• Working knowledge of IP core and routing, fiber access, fixed wireless plant, outside plant, and high-availability design.

• Familiarity with GPON/XGS-PON and RF fundamentals.

• Experience in transitioning new sites or fiber from construction through testing, acceptance, and production.

• Background in NOC surveillance, incident command, change control, and after-hours escalation.

• Strong project management and documentation skills.

• Availability for after-hours escalations and emergency outages.

• Willingness to travel across Stimulus Technologies’ multi-state footprint.

• Flexibility to adapt as the company expands and integrates acquired footprints.

• Preferred expertise in Juniper, Calix, or similar service-provider platforms; optical transport; 811 and damage-prevention practices.

• Capability to access data centers, equipment shelters, rooftops, towers, splice points, construction areas, and other network facilities.

• Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Comfort in active telecommunications and outside-plant environments.

• Capacity to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work at heights or in vaults as required.

• Must pass pre-employment and random background checks, drug, alcohol, and cannabis testing.

• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are essential.

• Residency within Stimulus’s five-state footprint; adjacent states may be considered.
