Director of Finance, Reporting

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Oversight of financial reporting and collaboration with Consero.

• Review each monthly financial deliverable generated by Consero (our outsourced accounting partner) prior to submission to the CFO.

• Identify discrepancies, errors, classification problems, and gaps.

• Ensure Consero meets expectations for timeliness, precision, and analytical quality.

• Act as the primary day-to-day contact for Consero's VP of Finance.

• Manage the monthly financial reporting package, which includes variance explanations, trend analysis, and a narrative suitable for executives.

• Collaborate with Consero on the month-end closing process; while you do not own the closing itself, you are responsible for the accuracy of the output.

• Create ad hoc reconciliations between Salesforce contracts and programs, scheduled deliveries, invoicing in Sage Intacct, and revenue recognition in the general ledger.

• Examine revenue recognition discrepancies caused by program changes, cancellations, and schedule alterations.

• Identify the underlying causes of invoicing delays, absent POs, and aged accounts receivable.

• Drive resolution efforts with Revenue Operations and Consero.

• Assist with tax and state compliance by providing supplemental financial information as required.

• Support the CFO in banking, financing diligence, and compliance matters.

• Aid in audit follow-ups and the prevention of recurring findings.

• Conduct financial analyses related to profitability, fill rates, and program-level economics as necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• 7–12 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, encompassing the review and analysis of the financial closing and reporting processes.

• Background in multi-unit services such as education, staffing, hospitality, professional services, franchise operations, or similar fields.

• Proficient in Excel with strong analytical capabilities.

• Comfortable creating reconciliations and conducting investigative analyses in environments with imperfect data.

• Experience with audits, financing, or managing lender relationships.

• Direct experience in overseeing or managing outsourced accounting functions.

• Understanding of tax compliance issues is essential.

• Exceptional written communication skills.

• CPA is strongly preferred.

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.

• Familiarity with Sage Intacct, Salesforce, Paycom, or similar systems is advantageous.
