Director of Finance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.

📋 Description

• Provide leadership in finance and business partnership across the EMEA region.

• Take ownership of regional financial reporting, planning, compliance, and controls.

• Collaborate with the CFO, regional business leaders, global finance teams, and shared-service teams.

• Offer financial insights, challenges, and recommendations for business decisions and opportunities.

• Lead financial support for regional growth initiatives, business planning, and key projects.

• Foster financial accountability and commercial awareness.

• Manage EMEA budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.

• Analyze regional financial performance, trends, risks, and opportunities.

• Ensure timely, accurate, and valuable financial information for regional leaders.

• Review regional financial statements and reporting outputs.

• Oversee statutory, tax, and regulatory compliance matters.

• Identify, manage, and escalate regional compliance and entity-related issues.

• Stay updated on relevant local requirements across EMEA.

• Maintain regional financial governance, internal controls, and risk management.

• Act as a senior regional finance partner and escalation point for operational matters.

• Ensure practical, efficient, and scalable regional finance processes.

• Lead continuous improvement and transformation initiatives in business processes.

• Support the transition from Microsoft Dynamics SL to a modern ERP platform.

• Lead and nurture the regional finance team.

• Foster collaboration and accountability among regional finance, global finance, and business partners.

• Manage stakeholder relationships and act as the primary finance interface for the region.

• Balance regional and global requirements while reporting directly to the CFO and indirectly to the Managing Director, EMEA.

• Communicate financial information, business updates, and recommendations to senior stakeholders.

• Perform other duties as reasonably required by the business.

⛳️ Requirements

• Graduate and professionally qualified management accountant (CIMA or Dutch equivalent).

• Demonstrated experience managing finance operations across multiple legal entities and jurisdictions in EMEA, including financial governance, payroll compliance, supplier management, financial reporting, and local statutory and regulatory requirements.

• Significant experience in reviewing financial performance, management reporting, and key business metrics.

• Proven ability to provide financial analysis, challenge, and assurance to senior stakeholders.

• Experience in establishing and managing legal entities across Europe, covering financial, tax, payroll, and regulatory requirements.

• Background in a global finance environment across multiple regions and legal entities.

• Experience working within a global, matrixed organization.

• Strong understanding of VAT compliance and financial control processes.

• In-depth knowledge of international tax requirements, including corporation tax, VAT, and transfer pricing.

• Comprehensive understanding of financial systems, reporting tools, and financial reporting processes.

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.

• Experience in leading, managing, and developing finance professionals.

• Proven track record of building and leading high-performing teams.

• Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities.

• Collaborative leadership style across various functions, countries, and regions.
