Director of Engineering – Product Platform, Modeling & Rendering, Simulation, Distributed Computing, QA

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +3 more locations.

📋 Description

• Guide the engineering team responsible for nTop's product platform, which encompasses modeling and rendering, simulation, distributed computing, and quality engineering.

• Report directly to the CTO while managing a team of engineering managers.

• Take ownership of the product platform roadmap by converting strategy into actionable plans with defined ownership and sequencing.

• Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering managers to establish a high-performing leadership team.

• Spearhead the integration of an AI-native software development lifecycle throughout the platform organization.

• Establish and assess AI-assisted development practices while collaborating with external AI and hardware partners.

• Enhance the complete engineering workflow from planning to development, review, quality assurance, and release.

• Automate testing and validation processes, eliminating delays between engineering phases.

• Drive the delivery of next-generation products while simultaneously enhancing existing offerings.

• Collaborate with the Director of Product Management and platform product managers to assess feasibility, sequencing, and risk.

• Represent the platform engineering team to the CTO, R&D leadership, and the broader company.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in leading engineering organizations, including overseeing engineering managers across various teams.

• Proven track record of accelerating engineering organizations by transforming team planning, building, testing, or shipping processes, demonstrating measurable outcomes.

• Experience in launching a new product from inception to completion while maintaining the health of existing products.

• Practical experience in championing AI-assisted development within an engineering context.

• A clear perspective on how AI-assisted development influences processes, staffing, and quality standards.

• Technical expertise sufficient to earn credibility with expert engineers in areas such as geometry, GPU computing, physics simulation, or distributed systems.

• Outstanding prioritization and decision-making capabilities under tight timelines.

• Familiarity with CAD, CAE, PLM, or other engineering software domains where errors are costly and client decisions are made with care.

• Experience in developing real-time collaborative or multi-user systems.

• Background in modernizing quality engineering to embrace automated, continuous testing.

• Experience managing distributed teams across US and European time zones.

• Proficiency with C++ and Python codebases, as well as GPU-accelerated computing.
