This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Brazil.
• Lead the engineering division within a long-established partnership with a prominent U.S. investment manager.
• Take charge of daily operational and personnel leadership.
• Act as the senior engineering liaison for client stakeholders.
• Promote AI integration throughout the engineering team.
• Directly manage individual contributors and team leaders.
• Maintain hands-on involvement in delivery while the account leadership structure is being established.
• Foster trust through regular one-on-one meetings, open feedback, and development support.
• Address compensation, disengagement, underperformance, burnout, departures, and retention challenges.
• Manage client priorities and transform vague requests into actionable execution plans.
• Coordinate frontend, backend, DevOps, platform, and tooling workstreams.
• Define ownership, align dependencies, and bridge communication gaps.
• Collaborate with tech leads on architecture and decision-making trade-offs.
• Oversee hiring, onboarding, staffing, and resource allocation.
• Ensure engineers remain productive during client delays.
• Identify and resolve issues related to delivery, budget, and processes.
• Lead AI tooling, upskilling, and workflow design with measurable productivity and code review outcomes.
• Convert delivery metrics, technical decisions, and AI advancements into narratives that convey client value.
• Keep the CTO updated on actions taken and the rationale behind them.
• Occasionally travel for client visits and company retreats.
• Over 10 years of experience in software development.
• At least 5 years of experience leading engineering teams, focusing on technical delivery leadership.
• Ideal candidates will have experience in an agency, consultancy, or client-embedded setting.
• Experience working with distributed teams is a plus.
• Outstanding communication and mediation skills across written, asynchronous, live, and cross-cultural contexts.
• Proactive approach to problem-solving concerning delivery, scope, budget, and process challenges.
• Proven hands-on expertise with AI as a working tool, including personally driving AI adoption with measurable results.
• Technical proficiency in modern architecture, SDLC, and common tech stacks such as React, Vue, Angular, Node.js, Python, Java, and C#.
• Experience in coordinating multiple teams or workstreams concurrently.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, especially in ambiguous or contentious situations.
• Background in staffing, onboarding, interviewing, and resource planning.
• Strong commercial awareness.
• Ability to think systematically.
• Experience with internal developer platforms, MCP-style tooling, or prototype-to-production workflows is an advantage.
• Must reside in Brazil; candidates from other countries will not be considered.
